"Kurt's (basketball) IQ is through the roof as a defender and a rebounder," Odom said. "He's someone who can knock down that 15- to 17-footer. And, of course, it opens things up for Timmy down low."
Perhaps the only surprise about the deal was the low, low price the defending NBA champion Spurs paid to acquire Thomas from the lackluster SuperSonics. San Antonio gave up Brent Barry, Francisco Elson and a first-round pick in 2009.
Coach Phil Jackson took a jab at SanAntonio coach Gregg Popovich, who had suggested a trade committee be formed to block lopsided deals such as the one Popovich believed the Lakers put over on the Memphis Grizzlies to get Gasol.
"I don't want to be on that committee. I hate committees," Jackson said. "No doubt P.J. would send (Thomas) to San Antonio without hesitation."
Jackson referred to Seattle coach P.J. Carlesimo, a former Spurs assistant.

Phil's reaching on this one. Probably more joking than serious, though I'm sure this thread is destined for multiple pages of anger and disgust.

The Spurs gave up about as much as the Lakers gave up for Gasol.

the fucked up thing is Stephen A Smith last night mentioned Sonics office hooked Spurs up.
But he never said shit about Lakers trade. He is a piece of shit that always picks on the "unpopular" teams/players, but will shit in his pants before saying anything bad about the big teams/players.

If anything the Grizz swindled Mitch Kupchack big time, son! How are you going to trade Kwame Brown for Pooowwwww Gasssooolllll? Kwame's a balla, just like KT! Quite frankly, the Spurs need to be investigated, castigated, masturbated, and maybe even disciplined!

How about what the Sonics gave for Thomas? Investigate the Suns/Sonics?
If that deal set the market price for him then the Spurs vastly overpaid...
