Is that not typical for the Suns? It seems like, every time I've watched them, they've had high TO...I think they move too fast for themselves.

D'Antoni is an idiot. They have Shaq out there for 25-30 minutes, throw it into him in the half-court. They're trying to force passes all over the place and turning it over.

Shaq has DEFINITELY made PHX a much better defensive team. Once they figure out the offense with Shaq they will be better for it.

I wouldn't go that far and call Phx a defensive power. Sure Shaq clogs up the lane and gobbles up the rebounds, but LA exposed him on the pick-n-roll the other day.

Boston isn't good enough to run a good pick-n-roll; not really Rondo's strength. Their reliance on the iso game is what is killing them.

Well the Suns finally getting to know how it feels playing half-court playoff-style basketball. The intensity of this game is really impressive right now.

Shaq definitely changes things for the Suns. But as long as D'Antoni is the coach, they'll find it tough to use the Diesel to their advantage on the offensive end.

Celts look much less impressive than their record.

Celtics played horrible...makes me wonder how they have the record they have. Horrible shooting by Allen and Pierce...not going to get it done. Oh, and they can't rebound for shit. I love Shaq sitting in the 4th quarter with the game on the line......brings back fond memories.

Celtics are overrated...

They're going to get worked by the rest of the top western teams as they already have. They might be able to beat NO or Dallas, but they should get worked on the Texas triangle next month.

Celtics or Suns losing this game is good for the other good teams in the West.

Celtics win, West teams move up.
Celtics lose, West gets a better chance to get the overall #1 seed and HCA throughout.

EDIT: Whoa, just saw that the Clips beat the Jazz 114 to 104.

Detroit or Boston will get HCA in the PO's. I don't think any Western team will win more than 58gms or less. Definitely no 60gm winners.

Detroit is the one to watch out for if they get HCA.

They won a number of ugly regular season games last year. Both of the Spurs games this year teetered on ugly and they split those.

In two games so far Shaq is doing what he needs to do.. Just be a presence in the paint.

Both teams shot horribly, but the Suns controlled the boards.. by a lot overall and 12-8 on the OREB's..

Once again, how does one guy make such a dramatic difference?

How did the Suns go from the worst rebounding team in the history of the league to being dominant on the boards?

The Celtics were "one and done" the entire game.

exactly. Garnett started his stupid antics and the whole team went down the toilet with him.

I will give Amare his props for owning Garnett, but then again, garnett owned himself.

I meant how the Suns outrebounded both the Lakers and Celtics who are very good rebounding teams that last two outings.

The formula for beating the Suns was crash the boards because they're terrible out rebounding and you can't outshoot them (even though the Lakers did the other night).

If the Suns are a good rebounding team now, then they're a whole lot better.

Grant Hill is a stud.

All season, we've been 30th (dead last) in rebounding. It'll be interesting to see where we can end up.

The Suns average 50% FG, but were the worst rebounding team in the league before Shaq played his first game in a Suns uniform. You're right that the formula for beating them was to control the glass, get a ton of offensive rebounds, which would lead to several more shot attempts than Phoenix. If this trend continues, the Suns will not only shoot at a higher percentage than most teams on most nights, they'll have more shot attempts, as well.

The scary thing is that if the Suns hadn't gone ice cold in the 2nd quarter, they win this game by 20+ easily...the Celtics were just plain outplayed by PHX.

I've said this in other treads...

Pre Shaq the Suns were out rebounded because the other team just had to box out Amare and if Marion couldn't jump high enough there was no one else around on the Suns to get the rebound. Rebounding in the paint was horrible for the Suns and that's why the other teams got so many OREBs.

Shaq's sheer size almost demands two players for the rebound. This now frees up Amare to go to town and pound the glass as well. If 2 Suns players require 3 opponent players in the paint than that means the Suns have a 3-2 advantage for the long rebounds.

ppl some how expect Shaq to get 25/15 or the trade is a failure, but the Suns don't need that.. They've just needed that big body in the paint to cause a disruption with other teams. So far he's doing just that.

No, the ugly games were all in the 90's, high 80's, which is ugly by Phoenix's standards. We won one of those games against the Lakers (93-85), and another against the Hornets (92-83), and lost one to San Antonio (85-92), and Detroit (83-105). Those were the only "ugly" games I saw looking at the '06-'07 schedule.

This is something new.

Hmm, actually you're right.. Last year, the Suns won a few games when they scored in the low 90's, but the games when they scored in the 80's they lost.

The Suns played a good frontcourt last night and outrebounded them. I'd like to see how they rebound against a healthy Lakers frontcourt, a Spurs frontcourt (with Thomas), a Nuggets frontcourt, and a Pistons frontcourt.

oh,wait i get it. the shaq thing.
still thats borderline strange

Maybe it's strange to you, but it is the equivalent of playing a family member or close friend. Of course I want the lakers to win and I think they would but I would want to see Shaq do well. I feel the same about Horry when he was traded and Fisher(when he was not with the lakers). I have much love for those guys so hate has gone out the window for me. Losing to Shaq would not bring me grief like it would with any other team in the league.

Let me ask you something, if the unthinkable happened and Duncan was traded to the lakers. As much as you hate the lakers could you actually hate them as much with Duncan?
