In the meantime, the player the Spurs acquired from Seattle in exchange for Barry is en route to San Antonio, perhaps at the very moment you are reading this. Thomas is expected to arrive in time for tonight's game against New Orleans, though he obviously won't play

Bad team for him to start playing. The Hornets have the best record in the Western Conference. We need to insert players that are familiar with the Spurs' system.

"Obviously won't play?" Why the hell is that obvious? We need rebounding and D out there against the Hornets.

After reading this, it seams to me he will play.

If we traded for him Wednesday, why is he just now (today) arriving in San Antonio?

What the fuck takes so long to get a flight, pack some stuff, get to SA then get a damn physical?

He will play if for no other reason that to get his feet wet. If he can't play now, he never will.

Exactly! I was wondering why it's taking him so long to get here? The Western Conference is stacked this season so I would of thought that he needs to get here ASAP and start his education on the Spurs system. Taking almost a week to get here is kinda long don't you think? That said glad to have you on the team Mr Kurt Thomas.

I love Thomas is on the team, but damn, would've been the perfect team to get his feet wet vs.

Match up against David West and do his thing and help out.

SOB..

You'd think the Spurs would have paid someone to pack his stuff up for him so he could get here quicker ;).

Heck I would have done it. Throw some crap into a bag, get to SA and start practicing. Heck, I would have lent him my laptop and he could have watched some SA game film on the plane.

Wasn't he supposed to practice with the Spurs on Friday? That's what I read somewhere...can't find the link right now...

So now they are saying that he has yet to arrive at San Antonio?

Oh, I was really hoping to see him play today!

anyone know?

No...he was traded to Orlando. :blah

3. Kurt Thomas to Orlando

The Seattle SuperSonics should trade Kurt Thomas to the Orlando Magic for Keyon Dooling, James Augustine and Pat Garrity. Thomas has been a trooper in Seattle, and Ol’ Crazy Eyes is currently standing in the way of all those unproven big men like Robert Swift and Johan Petro.

This trade would open up minutes for the kids and would allow Thomas one last shot at a ring and the Sonics to keep what they crave most—a strip-mined roster full of expiring contracts (and more cap room than Thomas alone would provide).

Why this trade matters? Pairing Thomas with Dwight Howard, aka Young Thunder, could have major, major playoff implications. Remember, Thomas is a guy who can defend Tim Duncan.

Editor’s note: Thomas was traded to the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday for Brent Barry, Francisco Elson and a first-round draft pick in 2009.

Jeff McDonald: For those who believe in conspiracy theories ...
... and you know who you are.

Brent Barry's locker still hasn't been completely cleaned out at the AT&T Center. His nameplate is still present above his stall as well.

Not so for Francisco Elson, whose former space has already been invaded by new arrival Kurt Thomas. Thomas landed at San Antonio International around 3:15 this afternoon and drove directly to the arena. He walked into the locker room carrying what passes for his luggage -- a small overnight bag containing a few changes of clothes.

Gregg Popovich even says there's a small chance Thomas could make his Spurs debut tonight against the Hornets.

So stay tuned ...

If the Spurs get a big enough cushion in the 4th, there's a good chance we may see him.

I don't see Kurt Thomas playing without a practice with the team. I'm sure Pop would love to throw him out there but not if this game is on the line.
