Jeff McDonald: For those who believe in conspiracy theories ...

... and you know who you are.

Brent Barry's locker still hasn't been completely cleaned out at the AT&T Center. His nameplate is still present above his stall as well.

Not so for Francisco Elson, whose former space has already been invaded by new arrival Kurt Thomas. Thomas landed at San Antonio International around 3:15 this afternoon and drove directly to the arena. He walked into the locker room carrying what passes for his luggage -- a small overnight bag containing a few changes of clothes.

Gregg Popovich even says there's a small chance Thomas could make his Spurs debut tonight against the Hornets.

So stay tuned ...

BOOOYAH!!!! Welcome Home Brent!

When can he resume practicing with the Spurs? Or can he work the broadcast with Sean a couple of games while he sits out?

It could theoretically be part of a sales pitch to bring him back. It could be something as innocent as that.

I'm trying not to read too much into it.

You wouldn't want to give the league the smallest reason to investigate.

Fuck it. If the Fakers and Grizz can do exclusive, "sideline", "backdoor agreements" and avoid penalties, the Spurs can certainly "walk that same line" with their former player.

i find it funny, though. leaking a story like that would only drive the price up on barry. :lol

barry is doing a better job in this one. showing his emotions a bit when he said he was disappointed he was traded. unlike in jerry maguire where he was simply being an obnoxious prick. nice acting job, brent! :lol

Brent Barry was in Jerry Maguire? Man, I've avoided watching that movie for a decade. Now I have to rent it. How long is he in it?

I think Barry was on an episode of Arliss once too...

DespЏrado
02-23-2008, 11:20 PM
Isn't it the players responsibility to clean out his locker? So it could be argued that they are keeping their hands clean but I think McDonald's got to go, if for no other reason that he's an incompetent fool. But hey at least he is doing some actual reporting by releasing this information to us, but he should have done it without his official name attached and leaked it into this forum.

BTW I'm really serious about hoping Barry joins Sean for some sideline antics for at least a few games.

IT's because Barry was waived almost instaneously and hasn't been up there to empty out his locker, because he is injured...while Elson wasn't and isn't.

No treally that hard to figure out. Elson had to get his stuff...Barry doesn't yet.

What's the diference if the nameplate is still there?
If he has already decided to go to spurs the leauge has nothing to do with it. It's in fricking rules.

Or....

Or it could be we aren't as stupid as the mavs...

our players didnt open their mouths.... Really, since the trade has already been approved, there is nothing the NBA can do.

Mavs fucked up because their team collective IQ matches my Shoe size and couldnt keep their players quiet.

Im not saying we are guaranteed to get Barry back, but that would definately be the difference if we did.

The Celtics are after Barry as well. As much as I want to see Barry back, I just don't know if he will wait 30 days with all the interest that there is in him.

http://fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/40994

NBA sources said last night that the Celtics (http://fannation.com/tags/show_tag/4542) are poised to make a move on Brent Barry (http://fannation.com/tags/show_tag/4129) if and when he clears waivers. It is the second time the C???s have tried to get the slim shooter who has decent ballhandling skills. The first time failed when Barry ended up in San Antonio, which traded him this week to Seattle in the Kurt Thomas (http://fannation.com/tags/show_tag/4126) deal. The Celts, who have two roster spots available, will only be able to offer the veteran minimum. That may be enough to get Barry, who had interest

You're not seriously telling me Ludden didn't stick to what was acceptable by the Spurs to report which was why he was fed information from time to time.If Ludden did, then his journalistic integrity is questionable.

And anyway what does that have to do with what McDonald did? If he decides that he's going to report as he sees fit, and not as how the Spurs want him to, even if it means that they decide to limit his access, then I applaud his integrity. I sure hope for the sake of this country that the reporters who cover "important" news have the same scruples.

MannyIsGod
02-24-2008, 12:09 AM
Yes I'm sure McDonald was thinking of the ethics of journalism that he must uphold when he saw Barry's locker. I can only wonder how he holds to what he knows is right when his job demands so much of him ethicaly. The Brent coming back to spurs disscussion has already took a place.
There are rules, there are people behind this rules and there are choices.

But some fans and media acting like they are retarded or something.
Stay quite so the league would not recognize the rules they provided?
Like it wasn't the case from the very begining with teams and players having their options. Next year thay can change the rules into not 30 days but one year not singning with the team that traded you.
