Chicago didn't fail to acquire Gasol last year because they held players back as untouchable. Memphis was looking to dump his ass for expirings even last year. Chicago had none.

Last season the Grizz were looking to get Deng for Gasol but the Bulls did not pull the trigger. I still can't believe the Grizz allowed the Lakers to rape them for nothing. Seriously all you can get is Kwame Brown? How about asking for a Jordan Farmer or an Bynum? You basically gave Gasol away for nothing.

Contract the Grizzlies and disperse their players...or move them to Seattle after Durant and company leave and rename them the Sonics.

Those were the rumors, but during the telecast tonight, Jon says he talked to the Chicago FO during the media prep for this game and that wasn't the case. Memphis didn't want any contracts that weren't expiring. They were looking to just dump him last year, too.

So why didn't he Lakers make the play for him much earlier? After all Kobe was threatening to leave all summer and getting Gasol, after Garnettt was off the board, would have placated him.

They weren't interested last year, and they were too busy trying to move Kobe this summer?
