View Full Version : Suns @ Hornets game thread

High-scoring affair in progress between a couple of teams who seem to have regressed since their respective trades over the last few games.

Suns red-hot from the 3-point line; Barbosa filling it up. Peja's nuts seem to have shrivelled already. West and CP3 will have to pull something special to keep the Hornets in it. Or they can start playing some defense.

Jannero Pargo scoring at will on Nash! And now Peja steps up. Hornets lead.

Battle of the back-up PGs ... Pargo with 16 and Barbosa with 14

Wow, I wonder when the last time was that the Suns only allowed 1 offensive rebound in a half. Now, if only they could play some defense... And quit turning the ball over (which they seem to be doing much more now with Shaq).

LOL @ Suns defense, making Mo Pete look like an All-Star...

That's the trade off with Shaq. You're going to limit space on rebounding but the side of the court he's not playing to is WIDE open for dribble drive - pass to a cutter. Shaq has to step over and foul or give up an easy layup.

David West is abusing Amare...26pts 10/16 shooting

Warlord23

Paul = best PG in the game. 15 pts, 13 assists, 3 steals with only 1 TO with a full quarter and more to go. His shot is off, but he's still the best player on the floor.

Congrats, Suns. You're giving up 58% shooting for the game. Shaq really bolstered your defense. :lol

he is the best PG bc he can dominate on the offensive end and is a superior defender, something Nash is not and DWill isnt on CP3's level defensively

why is D'Antoni playing Linton Johnson?

Warlord23
02-27-2008, 09:58 PM
The Hornets match up very well with Phoenix. Phoenix likes to go with its 2-PG lineup of Nash and Barbosa for long stretches, and the Hornets counter this with a Paul/Pargo combination. While not as spectacular as Shaq/Amare, NOH's frontcourt is more consistent, especially on defense. Plus the Hornets have the better shooters in Peja and Mo-Pete.

Some of their bench players are questionable (Ryan Bowen, Mike James, Hilton Armstrong), but the Suns aren't too deep either. BTW, ex-Spur Linton Johnson III getting a few minutes in the last couple of games for the Suns.

he doesnt seem too worried about that. As the best big in the NBA, you can't expect amare to do everything. :rolleyes

Shaq hasn't managed to impose his will on the low post. He's resorting to throwing elbows now. But he isn't getting close enough to the rim nor is he able to jump high enough. He's thrown up some prayers today.

Nah. The Suns' owner cares about money, not winning. Shaq = $$$.

It's the stupid coaching. D'antoni won't let Shaq go to the low block like he has for the last 16 years. He wants him to start up high, for who knows what reason. It's not like he's going to draw the double-team when he's far away from the hoop.

Shaq says it's hard for him to remember not to go to the low block right away like he's done for the last 16 years.

D'antoni better learn quickly to let Shaq play his game the way he does best, or else we need a new coach quickly.

Lakers will win the Pacific for sure this year. Thank you Steve Kerr. I knew it was a bad trade from the beginning. Just like cars warranties are only good for the first 50, 000 miles. Haha. Shaq should have taken that three year contract and retired in style.

Hey, I thought Shaq said, "Don't worry about me, I'll adjust to you all" :lmao

Hey, I thought Shaq said, "Don't worry about me, I'll adjust to you all"

He did, and he's trying to, and he'll get used to it soon. But he's not as effective playing this way instead of the way he's played in the past. D'antoni needs to realize that it won't work this way. Let him play the way that he is effective and has helped teams win championships!

Shaq is done and he'll be in a suit the rest of his career soon. Don't be such a Homer. Shaq just hanging on to collect them paychecks. Only thing he's good for now is a huge exp in 2 years.

Salary-wise yes, but if they somehow miss the playoffs, the loses on playoff ticket sales would be pretty big. Not to mention trying to sell season tickets next year when your product is a broken down Shaq.
