But Americans don't really use much Jack cheese. It's mostly cheddar and American cheese that are used in the way you describe. Real Mexican food uses mostly white cheeses----their versions of jack, mozzarella, and muenster.

mrsmaalox - thank you for the cheese lesson. :) You hear/see a lot of ads that mention jack cheese, but really I meant tasteless jack/cheddar/whatever. IMHO, there is a lot of unnecessary cheese, whatever its creed!

Don't get me wrong - I love cheese, especially aged extra tasty cheddar and swiss - but melting layers of generic, tasteless cheese on everything like TB (amongst others) does makes no sense to me.

Ohhh I love Taco Bell! I get everything with Beans though, no beef (and no I have never had gas or diarhhea from eating there). I put the "hot sauce" on everything.
