Pau Gasol has been Dirk's personal bitch for just about all of his career.

Josh Howard is up to the Kobe challenge.

And Jason Kidd is gonna make Vujacic look stupid out there.

Mavs win by double digits. Book it.

Yeah, but Dallas is soft inside. We should be able to take them, but it's no slam dunk. No way they beat us in a playoff series with a healthy Bynum though.

We are the only team in the WC that doesn't have to kill themselves to win games. We have the easiest schedule left and we can beat 90% of those teams sleep-walking. The only thing I care about is getting everyone healthy and gelling together. A fully healthy Laker squad will stomp all over the Mavs.

I know Bynum is having a good year but why is everyone acting like he is Shaq? The kid is averaging 13 and 10 not 25 and 10?

Nobody said he's Shaq. But he's damn good. Since you bring up that "he's only averaging 13 and 10", it shows you're only looking at his year stats and not actually watching the games. The guy impacts the game offensively and defensively, he's a beast in the paint. As soon as he comes back you'll see how much he brings. There's a reason why every GM in the League wanted him.

And since you like stats so much, check out the boxscores before he got hurt. Or just ask suns fans how good he is.

Kwame Brown was the starting center for most of the season and split minutes with Bynum. His work with Kareem is paying huge dividends...excellent footwork for a 20 year old.

Bynum was averaging like 20 and 12 in the 10-15 games before he got injured.

Lakers will win this one handily. Win or lose I'll be one of the first to bump the thread on Sunday, don't worry :D

I know Bynum is having a good year but why is everyone acting like he is Shaq? The kid is averaging 13 and 10 not 25 and 10?

He didn't start the first 9 games of the season (Kawame Brown was starting), and PJ was limiting his minutes the first 21 games to about 26 minutes a game.

He was playing so well that Phil increased his minutes for the next 15 games (before he got injured) to about 33 minutes a game.

In those 15 games he averaged 16.5 pts, 10.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks and 2.2 assists per game (including the game he was injured, which he played 20 minutes), and was altering many of the shots coming in the paint. The Lakers record during those games was 13-2, including wins against Phoenix, Utah, and New Orleans.

He is still very young, and although Laker fans are saying that he will be the savior when he returns from injury, he has never been "battle tested" in the playoffs - still, this team could be pretty scary good when he returns - will it happen this year or wait until next year (with some more maturity) - only time will tell.

I think we are more excited about what this kid could end up being. Is he going to be Shaq in his prime? No one will, but I see a very high ceiling for him.

People quickly forget what Bynum was doing before he went down. Check out his statline from the last month and a half before he got injured. When the Lakers get him back they get to add this piece of the puzzle without negatively affecting a thing. It will shore up the defense and prevent any easy layups and will completely limit team's to 1-n-outs. I just don't see anyone hanging with us if we stay healthy.

10 points (5-9), 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 7 blocks in 28 minutes- vs. Howard (Magic)
2 points (1-1), 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, 3 blocks in 26 minutes - This was the game he had the flu, he was absolutely amazing defensively to close the game, even if his stats weren't that great
20 points (9-14), 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 blocks in 28 minutes (Warriors)
6 points (3-9), 11 rebounds in 24 minutes (Spurs)
17 points (8-10), 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block in 35 minutes (Warriors)

Bynum doesn't have to be Shaq for us to succeed. We have so many options on offense it's ridiculous, at this point all we need is defense and reboudning. Two areas where Bynum excels at. He has held his opponents to the lowest eFG% of any center in the NBA, was in the top 5 in rebounding, and was in the top 10 in blocks per game. He is a huge piece of the puzzle for us if we want to win.

This is a regular season game anyway, and 2 of the 3 best Laker defenders are injured (Ariza, Bynum) - Dallas does actually look pretty good (now in the regular season, when they always look good)

Dallas fans also do a lot of talking (also now in the regular season, when they have looked good the last few seasons)

Remember, they have a lot to "overcompensate" for - this is a team that has only made it out of the first round of the playoffs 6 times in the last 21 years, and been eliminated 2 out of the last 4 years in the first round (as have the Lakers, but we Laker fans have all those championship banners hanging from the rafters to make us feel good).

P.S. After this post, I have one thing to say: "INCOMING!!!" (from Dallas fans)

Good win by the Lakers...if the game was called more appropriately then there'd be no need for OT. Horrible officiating.

You're right..the Mavs would have won it regulation.

But then again, the Lakers win and the Mavs lost....that's all that really matters.

I'm sure you watched the game...it should have been at least 60-20 disparity. The flagrant fouls on Damp were a nice touch..too bad his dumb ass fouled out. Yes, a good win and good test by a second tier west team.

Amazing how Laker fans complain about officiating when the Lakers shot 50 free throws to the Mavs' 25. Kobe had 27 free throws. Dallas committed 6 more personal fouls than the Lakers. I'd be fucking happy and I wouldn't say a damn word about the officiating.

Your right we are in 6th place, but if we win against Denver tonight we will be in 5th. We actually have the same Division record as Phoenix but a better conference record.

No; the Suns have a 7-6 division record, while the Rockets have a 6-6 division record. I believe the NBA does tie breakers based on season series first (1-1 between the two teams), and they changed it now to where division record comes before conference record. I may be wrong though, but I'm pretty sure that's how it is. That would still have the Rockets in 6th place. But a 15 game win streak is pretty impressive...

Dirk should get flagrant for foul on Fisher, same for Dampier for foul on Bryant.

When Dirk was hammered without call? Maybe I miss something in 1st half.

Go back and watch the game and tell me exactly which plays Kobe got phantom calls. The reality is he was actually fouled everytime he got free throws. Don't like the free throw disparty?? Then learn how to play perimeter defense morons.

Dirk, OTOH, clearly flopped as bad as humanly possible every opportunity he had.

Dirk did not get no hard ass foul, it's Odom guarding him. Dirk had that one foul late in the fourth where he basically hid behind Odom and then flopped with no contact...that was classic.

Dirk played an awesome 4th, can't take that away from him.

I wonder if MonoMan will change his avatar or team to the Lakers?

To bad for Mavs, Dirk was nowhere in first three quarters. He really picked up in 4Q an OT. At one moment (beginning of OT) there was info, that Dirk scored 15 of last Mavs' last 17.

I agree on the flop. There was also a dumb call by the refs when Terry and Walton colided on the loose ball, and Walton kicked it out to Kobe for the dunk. They should have just let that go. But the entire first half, Odom was getting away with murder on Dirk. There was one time he bit a pump fake, jumped into Dirk, when he shot the ball, and they still called no foul. It was fucking ridiculous. And don't forget that jump ball where Luke Walton jumped straight into Dampier, without even trying to go for the ball.
