With Boston adding in Brown to beef up their frontcourt and Cassell in the backcourt the Celtics have gotten even deeper. Which team will the Spurs struggle more with?

Boston. But the Lakers are the bigger threat because they are in our conference.

Either team could take a game in a series with the Spurs.

Just as a matter of who we are more likely to play, I'd have to go with the Lakers. We don't get back to the Finals without going through them.

Reference td4mvp21's comment above.

Definetly Boston. They have big guys who are good at defense (Garnett,Davis,Brown) and they have pure jump shooters who the Spurs always have problems defending..(cassell,allen,pierce)...

The Lakers are too young, Gasol is soft defensivly, and Bynum will get in easy foul trouble against TD.

Spurs over Lakers in 5
Spurs over Boston in 7

I agree - Detroit is more likely than either to win a series against the Spurs. Sheed does a better job than anyone on Duncan, and they have the playoff experience and poise to grind it out.

I expect Boston to unravel in a later 7 game series this playoffs. I'm not sure they'll make it past Detroit, for example.

L.A. looks dominant now because they're playing weak teams, and almost exclusively at home. And they have a weak schedule so they'll wind up with a good seed, but that won't mean much because all 8 teams are talented and capable of beating each other at least once or twice. I fully expect Kobe's injury to hurt him a lot more than he lets on, and that the gruel of the playoffs will be too much for him. And even if Bynum comes back, I don't expect he'll make much of a difference this season. Gasol is good, but not that good, and always gets exposed in the playoffs.

So, I think we're just as likely to see any of the other teams in the WCF as we are the Lakers.

LA has only played 3 of their last 12 games at home.

Spurs fans can fear whoever they like but lets not get the facts twisted.

Lakers. Better coach, been together longer to gell (minus Gasol), more likely to face them.

I love the fans making shit up...yes we have an easier sched coming up.....I agree, but we have one of the hardest up to this point and we're still doing well.

The Lakers, because I'm not so sure that Detroit does not still beat the Celtics.

I do love Boston's pickups, though. Two experienced veterans to spell the young Perkins and Rondo.

If a team coached by Flip Saunders is your biggest threat, then you might as well already be crowned champions. I mean seriously a Flip Saunders coached team is going to be your biggest threat??? :lol :lol :lol

It is the Lakers who are the Spurs biggest threat. They have a superstar and a head coach who have experience in beating the Spurs. They have a solid starting 5 and a sick bench.

There are NO serious threats to a repeat this season - the teams with the talent AND leadership to topple the Spurs have not been together long enough to do so, much less been together in tough playoff series (Larry Brown IS NOT the coach of the Pistons! THAT was the team we all remember; it doesn't exist; THIS Piston team got beaten by the Cavs last season).

Complacency was a threat; but Pop has done a good job of building to a very strong peak.

Tim and Manu are there; I anticipate in a couple of weeks Tony will take over the offensive heavy lifting for a few games - the process has been refined this year.

The defense is rounding into shape

Health is the only thing that can stop this team.

Um, Doc Rivers coaches the Celtics.

If coaches really matter that much- the Lakers. Doc Rivers and Flip Saunders don't inspire fear.

Lakers, you don't know who is going to come out of the East Detroit/Boston.

Kobe has help now and he is determined. Hopefully they still haven't gelled completely come playoff time and it will be easier. Next year they will be extremley difficult to beat.

Next year nobody in the WC will beat the Lakers. This year it's debatable only because of lack of experience and time to gel together as a group (starting 5).

Rivers never had a team like this so you cant really say anything about him. Plus Mike Brown in his 1st year as head coach was able to outsmart Flip so many times. Flip cant handle playoff pressure and it has proven that fact correct year after year. He thinks he is Gods gift to coaching when he really isnt. Coaches do matter and anyone who doesnt think so have their heads up their asses. The Pistons are under the Larry Brown/Flip Saunders curse. 2 NBA Finals with LB and 2 asskickings with Flip in both game 6's of the ECF.

As of now we can't really tell... the Spurs just got back TP and Thomas is barely getting to know the system and barely getting playing time... Let's see if the Spurs form to their usual champion look.. if they do that then only Boston for the posibility of seeing them in the finals.

Doc Rivers would get the Mike Brown treatment if we played them in the finals. A week of "Doc Rivers knows the Spurs organization well and can exploit them," with similar end results although probably not a sweep.

i mean seriously, paulina gasol and sasha vuachick? no. that team's not going to beat the spurs. i don't give a shit if kobe goes for 50 a night. that supporting cast cannot be the spurs. did you see how lamarcus aldridge embarrass gasol (both times they played)?

I love the arrogance of Spurs fans .

Let them act like Lakers aren't a threat. Spurs will blindly go about their business, thinking they are unbeatable and then they will get crushed on April 13th which will send them into disarray.

Face it, the Spurs have never been 'good enough' to repeat. Things haven't changed.

What's up with Spurs fans overrating the Pistons around here? The Lakers beat them once and lost by a bucket or so up in Detroit without Bynum, Kame, Gasol, etc. Styles make match ups I guess. I would rather face Detroit than Boston who raped us twice this year. Our players just aren't consistent enough to be counted on in the playoffs though. I don't like our chances greatly this year.
