Man fuck these Jail Blazers announcers. I have never seen a more disgusting announcing crew in my life. So much hatred, it doesn't belong in basketball.....let alone from an announcer.

And yea I predict a loss for us on this game. Portland is too atheltic for us to handle with Gasol manning the paint. He is just getting slaughtered out there.

I'd do a sig bet but I like to reserve it for self-deprecating humor. If you can come up with a funny sig, I'll do it.

Why is it news that Gasol is a poor defender. We all knew this coming in, he is playing out of position right now out of necessity.

Yep, check out this Spurs stretch:

@Denver
@Phoenix
vs. Denver
@ Hornets

I'm willing to bet several other Western conference playoff teams have similar streches.

I knew he wasn't great, but I'm stunned at how an all star player of his size just stands there as LaMarcus Aldridge punks him over and over.

I mean, he's great in the open court for a big man and obviously has other positives, but it's almost sickening to see this guy on D.

Dirk on occasion manages not to embarrass himself. Of course, the Mavs usually hide him. He's not as bad as his rep makes him out to be.

It was a tough loss but expected. Back to back, on the road against a POR team out for revenge for what we did to them the other night. We can't win em all, we gave up a good fight but tonight none of our 3's were falling and they just shot lights out. Good game by the Blazers they played hard and deserved to win.

I hope we play them again when we get Bynum back, payback is a fucking bitch and that faggot Aldridge won't be doing that shit on Bynum.

if you were to come up with an all-worst defensive team, it would have to be:

PG Nash
SG Redd (who gets my vote as worst defender of the bunch)
SF Szczerbiak
PF Gasol
C Stoudemire (worst post defender in the league)

I'm glad we lost....we need some adversity...I love winning but this team needs to learn and have something to learn about. Oh and Pau is not the defensive specialist....tell me something I didn't know.

Kobulingam
03-01-2008, 01:03 AM
K. Bryant padded his stats with a layup at the end.

I agree with the other poster - Michael Redd is the worst defender in the league (considering only nonscrubs).

Damn we shot 5/27 from 3pt land. That is pathetic, fucking Fisher was a black hole tonight. The only positive I can take away from this game is that we played like utter shit, they shot lights out, and it was still a close game. With Bynum and Trevor back to shutdown guys like Aldridge and Roy this game is ours. Fucking Blazers announcers make me sick though.

I think he's been steady at around 9 per game throughout his career. But don't tell that to Kenny Smith, who calls him a "non-rebounding 7-footer."

I'd take Portland + Oden over LA any day.

Portland gave up too many offensive boards at the end. Did LA shoot anything but threes for the last five minutes?

Then you are fucking stupid. Portland has a ton of talent but they are still a horrid road team. That's what separates the good teams from the bad.

If the Lakers get Bynum back close to 100%, I think Pau only needs to be adequate. There are a lot of great players out in the West so it's not like one player can shut down another great player down. Heck, even Tim Duncan has been lit up quite a few times this season, and look how an undersized back-up Brandon Bass took Timmy to task the other night. It happens. It's the NBA. There's a bunch of great players.

I don't see how Pau "playing out of position" equals to his bad defense.

i can see it in some circumstances, but in this case, playing the 5 should help with his lack of defensive quickness.

Fisher has shot really, really bad the last 3 games (5-26 19%) - this wasn't as noticeable in the previous 2 games because Farmar & Vujacic shot so well in those games - nothing new - Fisher tends to go through "hot & cold" streaks in about 10 game cycles and has throughout his career (a career 40.1% shooter) - he should limit his attempts to 7-8 per game at the most unless he is hot on a particular night.

Nah we won't go undefeated, too many good teams left to play. But we will finish out the season better than our rivals considering we've already played the toughest part of our schedule. For teams like PHX and SAS they haven't even seen the worst of it yet.

I'm hopeful we can finish with a top #1-3 seed and have HCA. The most important thing is that we are 100% healthy coming into the playoffs. We need all our weapons to survive the WC.

We are finally healthy again with James Jones and B-Roy back last night. People don't realize that our recent bad stretch was due in large part to injuries to Jones and Roy. We will make a push now and hopefully we'll have a shot at the #8 seed. It was nice to have the Lakers visit so we could refocus our game.

Yeah I know, I was being facetious! Portland played well and the lakers came up short. The team was competitive even though they did not have their best game and it was a back to back. No big deal. We'll take it out on Dallas tomorrow!

I kind of want Phil to go ahead and incorporate Gasol at the 4 now in anticipation of Bynums return. Start Rony at center for now and it wont be so hard for the Team to adjust to Bynum. Top seed is of no importance other than hc advantage. History has shown that it is not necessary to win a title.

Pau Gasol is a better defender than Oberto

Pau Gasol couldn't guard Yao, even after the surgry.

Oberto did a great job guarding Yao over the past few meetings. He gave Yao what, 8 inches?

You make D&C look like Socrates.

Pau is a pretty bad defender at the C position. It's a good thing this is only temporary until Drew gets back. Most teams do not have dominant players at the C and PF position. SAS, for example, only has Tim Duncan. Oberto and Kurt Thomas are pretty much non factors on offense so we won't be hurt negatively on the defensive end with Gasol guarding either one of them.

On the offensive end, that all we need in the paint. Oh and then there is Tony and Manu attacking the rim. So you better home Pau can defend some(but we all know he cant)
