Kurt Thomas & Damon Stoudamire By The Numbers

Kurt Thomas and Damon Stoudamire are the two newest additions to the Spurs' roster this season. They have accomplished many things their respective careers, and spurs.com has broken down some of their more impressive accomplishments.

Kurt Thomas

2 - ‘Kurt Thomas: Playing with Heart’ is a two edition coloring book for children that Thomas has published. Proceeds received from his coloring book sales are given to the Literacy Instruction for Texas (LIFT) foundation.

3 - There have been only three players in NCAA history to lead the nation in scoring and rebounding, Xavier McDaniel (Wichita St 1985), Hank Gathers (Loyola-Marymount 1989), and Kurt Thomas. Thomas averaged 28.9 points and 14.6 rebounds per game in the 1994-‘95 season for Texas Christian University.

5 - In five consecutive seasons Thomas averaged ten plus points and six plus rebounds for a season. Thomas averaged 12.1 points and 8.4 rebounds per game from the 2001-‘02 to the 2004-‘05 seasons for the New York Knicks.

7 - Number of seasons where Thomas’ teams made playoff appearances. Thomas has been to the playoffs seven different times throughout his career, with Miami in 1995, New York four times, and Phoenix twice, most recently in the 2006-‘07 season. Thomas played in the 1999 NBA Finals with the Knicks against the Spurs.

9 - In 2004-‘05 Thomas was one of only nine NBA players to average a double-double for the season after he averaged 11.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game in the season. His 10.4 rebounds a game were good enough to rank seventh in the NBA for the season.

10 - With the 10th overall pick in the 1995 NBA Draft the Miami Heat selected Thomas. Spurs teammates Damon Stoudamire and Michael Finely were selected seventh and 21st overall in the same draft by Toronto and Phoenix respectively.

11 - Thomas has had ten or more rebounds 11 times in playoff games throughout his career, including two 12 rebound games against the Spurs. Thomas pulled in 12 rebounds twice on May 12th and 16th in the 2007 NBA Playoffs.

15 - Prior to the 2003-’04 season Thomas decided to give $15 for every rebound he pulled in during the season. He ended the season compiling a total of 662 rebounds which equated to $9,930 which he donated to various charities.

20 - On March 5, 2002 playing with the Knicks vs. Milwaukee, Thomas scored 29 points and pulled in a career high 20 rebounds in a 102-89 win over the Bucks at Madison Square Garden.

33 - The first of two of Thomas’ career high 33 point outings came along with 15 rebounds for Thomas in a Knicks loss against Cleveland on March 17, 2002. The second came in a loss to Indiana on November 8, 2002.

60 - Statistically, the best playoff performance of Thomas’ 13 year career came in the 2000-’01 playoffs playing with the Knicks. Thomas averaged 14.4 points and 11.2 rebounds during these playoffs. Thomas has played in 60 playoff games in his 13 years in the NBA to date.

147 - In what would turn into his second to last game with Seattle Thomas had ten points and 13 rebounds for the Sonics. This most recent double-double came on February 13, 2008 in a loss to Utah. Thomas has achieved 147 career double-doubles.

166 - Texas Christian University’s all time leader in blocks is Thomas, where he amassed 166 blocked shots in his NCAA career.

208 - Thomas has pulled in 10 or more rebounds 208 times to this point in his 13 year NBA career. The last of which came with Seattle on February 13, 2008 where he had 13 rebounds to go along with his 10 points.

5000 - During his 2000-‘01 season with the NY Knicks Thomas donated 5,000 copies of his second book ‘Kurt Thomas: Playing with Heart’ to elementary schools in the New York City area during the 2000-‘01 season with the Knicks.

Damon Stoudamire

1 - Stoudamire amassed a total of 272 three pointers made in his four years at the University of Arizona, good enough to be the number one at the end of his collegiate career in all time three pointers made in the school’s history.

2 - Only two players in Pac-10 history have accomplished the feat of 1,800 points, 600 assists and 400 rebounds in a career. This first was Gary Payton from Oregon State, the second was Damon Stoudamire. Stoudamire also led the Arizona Wildcats to a pair of Pac-10 titles and a Final Four appearance.

3 - Stoudamire was named to the ‘All-Pac-10’ team three times during his career at the University of Arizona. The last of which coming in his senior season at the U of A when he averaged 22.8 points and 7.3 assists per game and was recognized as co-Pac-10 player of the year.

6 - In the 2003 playoffs Stoudamire averaged 15.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists. The ‘03 trip was his sixth, and most recent trip to the playoffs in his NBA career.

7 - With the seventh pick in the 1995 NBA Draft the Toronto Raptors selected Damon Stoudamire out of the University of Arizona.

9.3 - In the 1994-95 season, the rookie Stoudamire averaged a career high 9.3 assists per game and was named to the NBA All Rookie First Team. Stoudamire has averaged 6.2 assists to go along with 13.7 points per game in his 13 years in the NBA.

11 - In his first start with the Spurs, Stoudamire scored 11 points in 22:18 of action. Stoudamire’s first start came in his second game with the Spurs. The Spurs beat the Pacers 116-89 in Indiana in Stoudamire’s first start.

19 - Stoudamire dished out 19 assists on February 27, 1996 while playing for Toronto in a 100-105 loss at Houston. Stoudamire also had 17 points to compliment the career high 19 assists.

37 - Leading all rookies in the 1995-96 season Stoudamire tallied 37 double-doubles with 10 or more points and assists. Stoudamire had one triple-double in his rookie season with Toronto when he scored 20 points, dished out 11 assists and pulled in 12 rebounds in a 102-97 win against Seattle.

54 - Behind shooting 8-16 from three point range Stoudamire amassed a career high 54 points on January 14, 2005 in a 106-112 road loss to the Hornets. Stoudamire shot 62% in the game, going 20-32 from the field, including the eight three pointers, and was 6-6 from the free throw line.

76 - The media panel of voters cast 76 of 113 Rookie of the Year votes for Stoudamire giving him Rookie of the Year honors. Stoudamire averaged 19.0 points, 9.3 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game in his rookie campaign.

1,849 - Only four players have scored more points than Stoudamire (Sean Elliot is the all time leading scorer in U of A history at 2,555 points) during their careers at the University of Arizona. Stoudamire finished his career with 1,849 points, fifth most in school history. He also finished his career second in assists in the school’s history with 663 in his four year career.
