So it'll be Kidd defending Kobe I guess.

td4mvp21

Lakers 118
Mavs 72

Kidd: 5 points, 1-5 shooting, 8 assists, 8 rebounds
Avery benches him when the Mavs get down 10 so that his shooters can bring the Mavs back in the ball game.

:spin

Just kidding, don't bite my head off.

Read my post, I never said they were. My God, Mavs fans have been sensitive the past week. :dramaquee

I notice it the most with them out of any other team the Spurs have played, of course I don't watch all Mavs games so I'm basing it off of what I observe when I watch them play. But they do it a lot, and Dampier is the most blatant offender. They get open shots so hey, it works.

To sum up: go one on one and throw a wild pass to Gasol right as you're about to step out of bounds because you took the wrong angle going to the basket, on the next possession, instead of passing the ball, being a total ball-stopper and shooting an off-balance fadeaway, then let Vujacic strip you because you don't have your head in the game. Sit him down Avery.

The thing with the Lakers' depth is the right combination of skillsets in their young players:
Ariza is a good man defender, but a poor jumpshooter
Walton is a good passer, but can't guard a chair, can't shoot
Vujacic is a good shooter, but can't defend without fouling
Fisher is a good scoring guard, but can't defend quicker guards
Farmar is probably the most well-rounded of their bench players

And apart from Fisher (and to a certain extent Walton), these guys haven't been tested in close playoff games against well-oiled defenses.

Compare this to the Spur role players: Bowen or Udoka who have a 3 point shot to go along with their D, Finley who is a good shooter and rebounder, or Barry who is a great shooter and passer. Not to mention they've been there and done it in playoff games.

The Lakers don't really have a dominant team defense which they can rely on if they dont get easy points on the other end. How they answer that question will determine how well they do in the playoffs.
