Jeff McDonald: Pregame from Nets-ville
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Tony Parker caused a little bit of a minor stir in Dallas last week when he suggested he was happy with the trade that brought Jason Kidd there, because it meant Devin Harris -- a longtime thorn in the Spurs' side -- was headed eastward.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich isn't about to go there, but he will say this to New Jersey fans: You're going to love Devin Harris.

"He'll be great," Popovich told reporters before today's game against the Nets. "He's a young dynamic kid with a lot of energy. He's worked hard on his shot, you already can see him making shots in his first game he was here. He's just going to get better and better. He's a hell of a talent."

Harris has played in just one game since joining the Nets, coming off the bench to score 21 points in 21 minutes in Thursday's victory over Milwaukee.

Other pregame notes:

* Robert Horry apparently tweaked a hamstring during last night's victory at Milwaukee while scrambling after a loose ball. It might not affect Horry's availability for tonight, but given Popovich's penchant for caution with Horry on the second night of back-to-backs, it wouldn't be surprising to see the veteran take it easy tonight.

"The first loose ball he tried to get for a year and half," Popovich said with a chuckle, "and he came limping off the court."

* It's a little late to mount a campaign, but Popovich said Sunday he was shocked Manu Ginobili wasn't named to the All-Star team this season.

"I thought that was pretty close to a no-brainer, for a lot of reasons," Popovich said.

Ginobili has been at his best since the All-Star snub, averaging 25.3 points.

* You're not going to believe this, but Keith Van Horn is among the Nets' inactive players for tonight.
