View Full Version : Would the Spurs lose in the Finals...

okay, i was thinking today that NO ONE in the West can beat the Spurs in a 7 game series. Not the Mavericks, Suns, or Lakers. Mavericks got rid of the 2 guys that beat the Spurs seemingly single handedly. The Suns are just out of whack. And Lakers are too young and too soft (except Bryant and Fisher).

So, The Spurs definetely going to the Finals, but i believe that the Pistons and the Celtics are no doubt the 2 toughest teams the Spurs can face.
The Pistons have always given the Spurs tough games, and the Celtics played the Spurs sooo good about 3 weeks ago it was scary. The Spurs looked lost out there. I think just cause the Spurs make it to the Finals its definitely not a lock for the championship, i actually believe that if they go and face the Celtics theres a REALLY good chance they would lose.....

I love the Spurs but i call it like i see it....

It's going to be a hell of a trip getting there so enjoy the ride. Only have a few left before the Duncan era comes to an end. I wouldn't count anyone out, but I like our chances to repeat better than anyone else, so I will take it.

Way premature. It has always seemed like the Spurs can't lose in the playoffs in repeat years-that's how it is when you win a championship the year before. All I know is the West is stacked this year and it's going to be pretty difficult to make it out.

The Spurs track record speaks for itself.
Four Finals appearances. Four Championships.
I like our chances of getting there this season and once we're there I love our chances of bringing it home for the fifth time.

Yeah, Spurs are on a tear right now. I think any of the top 5 right now in the West could end up as Champs. Screw Boston they are pretenders. I say the Pistons come out of the East.

yeah.
i think the celtics are in the exact same boat as the lakers.
they can be good, just not this year.
maybe next year, or the year before.

i mean, they are good, but they can be a real title contender then.

Yeah, the Lakers are stacked, but the experts and Spurs fans know that it's not how you look on paper that gets you the ring, it's how well you play as a team. The Spurs are constructed with smart, savvy, cohesive parts, and it's that sheer experience playing together as a team that gives them the edge in seven game series. The one team I see as potentially giving the Spurs trouble is the Pistons for the same reason.

Lakers are deadly, but in my eyes only them and the Celtics are going to be able to beat the Spurs.

I agree, I think the Celtics have already peaked. All the other teams are getting better (except PHX). Lakers, Pistons, Rockets (b4 that injury), and Spurs are all in the hunt. Don't see it in the Mavs, they just don't look as strong anymore. But everyone keeps saying the Lakers are young. Their young players players come off the bench. Odom, Gasol, and Fischeraren't young. And you gotta remember... Kobe is a KILLER! He should be doing multiple life sentences right now. To think they aren't a legitimate threat would be homerish-ish!

Where ... miracles happens .. you know NBA and their star treatment could made some miracles, but IMHO only DET and Boston could keep the right intesity to win a 7 games series against us.

LAL, who knows.... but Stern is feeling great about LAL-BOSTON rematch ... :D

The spurs that lost to Boston isn't the Championship spurs we have known and loved. So don't worry about Boston, although they're having a great season , the same won't happen in the playoffs.

I'm much more scared of the Lakers than I am of anybody in the East. If only for the coaching match-ups. If Spurs make it to the Finals (again, this is very premature at this point), I would expect a Spurs triumph.

IF the Spurs make the finals (VERY GOOD chance they will) they wont lose. Flip Saunders isnt beating Pop in a 7 game series. He will shit himself out of fear by just being in the finals. No Larry Brown there to play those chess basketball games with Pop. Spurs in 5-6 games with the series being so much less dramatic than it was in 05.

Wrong the LAL are just a streaking team like the Kings or Hornets were RELAX about them!

True Tougher opponents in playoffs.

1) Mavs = play em better
2) Jazz = better than the Lakers on defense and Jazz not bedrocks of a soft team, i.e. Odom (mentally) and Gasol (physically).
3) Pistons

No one else can threaten the Spurs. Boston? A mirage. More afraid of Cavs if they get on a run as they have the most unstoppable player in the game in James right now and quietly got better.

I still believe that Mavs and Jazz toughest outs for SA in a 7 game series, Suns would be tough, LA easier soley due to experience and defensive softness, and Pistons or Cavs tough from East BUT ALL GO DOWN!
Spurs roll on to #5 - this team will be inspired in the playoffs and play defense like no one else can!
