Dvd movie and Vista

I have War on DVD and my vista laptop will not see it for shit, it keeps telling me my drive is empty but when I put in my daughters brats dvd it loads it up fine. My Xp pc will load the War DVD fine and play it, so I know it's not the DVD but the damn laptop will not and I have search online and can't find any help. Any thought?
