View Full Version : Do you really want the Spurs to have the #1 seed? (see 2004 and 2006)

it's been MANY years since the #1 seed in the west won the NBA title let alone came out of the west

and the Spurs luck as the #1 seed isn't very good

and what happened to the Official Scola thread? Was Scola's great play too much on the mods to bear?

I'm sure we won't have the #1 after March is over...

see the "Next fifteen" thread for explanation..

The Scola thread is in NBA Central.
Kori got tired of it here and moved it.

Does the phrase "Let it go" exist in your vocabulary? Seriously, man, what do you hope to accomplish with the constant Scola BS? You can't travel back in time without A) A DeLorean, B) a flux capacitor, and C) 1.21 Jiggawatts.

They replaced the Scola thread with a much more important one. Perhaps you should take a look at it...

with the way the Spurs are playing, and especially with Parker coming into form with his fresh legs, I doubt the Spurs are going to stumble much

Well I don't think getting the first seed is an automatic curse for the team. It just goes to show you that having the first seed in the West means absolutely nothing. I don't think the Spurs should tank to a lower seed unless the first seed causes a dangerous matchup for them.

By the way, do you want to know the last 1st seed team in the West to win the title? Yours truly! (http://www.spurs.com)

#1 seed this year won't mean as much as it has in the past. In recent years, the closest any 8 has been to the 1 seed is 15 games back. Right now, Golden State is #8 and they're only five games back of 1.

Spurs can do it more so than anyone so I wouldn't be so concerned with that stat.

Seed doesn't mean much if you don't come through in the playoffs. This is our deepest team since 1999 so I think we'll be in good shape.

#1 seed just means I have to spend more money on home games... i hope they win it from the 8th seed.

I never buy into stuff that because it happened before it is doomed to happen again. Spurs getting the number 1 seed puts them in the best position to win and would likely see to it they don't have to see the Lakers until the West Finals. They are the only team in the West i fear right now. I want to see them prove they can beat Dallas or the Suns in a 7 game series before they play us. I kow we can beat the Suns or Mavs, they have both regressed and we are just as good as we were last year if not better.

If it were to be Lakers vs Spurs in the Final round, I think the team with HCA wins...in fact, whichever team takes the #1 seed this year is the team I'm betting will be the West Champ.

Being #3 on down sucks because you're going against some excellent teams. #7 and #8 are deadly but not nearly as deadly as #3,4,5,6 will be.

I think either the Lakers or the Spurs could win without HCA. All they would need to do is steal one of the first two. Both are excellent home teams however.

Then again, the whole even years thing... these amount of superstitions are getting ridiculous - of course we want the first seed in the west.

#1 through #8 seeds are just numbers. Quit living in the past and fast forward to the present and wait for the future.

If the Spurs are the number one seed, chances are they will have to play the Warriors. I just don't see Denver making it the way they have been playing. No defense and no team ball. Problem is, we all know how the Warriors play come playoff time and thus far the Warriors are up 2-0 against the Spurs this season.

Who cares....

It's really pointless knowing Yao will miss 50 games each season.

Scola, Yao and Tmac will never win the title

and the Spurs luck as the #1 seed isn't very goodi don't think it's because they were the number one seed. and your sample size sucks. 1999 and 2003, spurs had the #1 seed. 2001, they also had the #1 seed. 2-3 with the the number one seed. you could flip a coin and do worse than that.

If we were Dallas I would be concerned. Dallas was number one last year and was out of contention early in the playoffs.
