Beside the Spurs, do you guys root or at least appreciate an other NBA organisation? (based on its History, its players, its city, or its fans)

I have a lot of respect for the Pistons because they took us to the wire and gave us a good championship series, and their fans here are pretty classy. I guess I liked MJ's Bulls back in the day, but so did a lot of people.

I can appreciate the Lakers org. just because they've had so many great players, and they've perennially gotten back into contention time and time again as opposed to other teams in the league with histories (small market - Atlanta Hawks, and Large - NY Knicks)

Their fans since 2000 were obnoxious during the three-peat. So many blind bandwagon people. But some hardcore fans seem to be genuine despite it all.

I've always enjoyed the Jazz, simple, tough basketball. In many ways similar to the Spurs with good team orientated play. Despite Malone/Robinson thing, Both Malone & Stockton would fit the Spurs mold well. Modest, hard working & efficient.

I like the Spurs aside from the Spurs. No really, I like the Spurs.

Pistons....Still have the same core like the Spurs. Play a lot like the Spurs. Gave us a hell of a series in 05...

Also Utah..Especially when AK47 is playing well. They are tough to beat, and proved it in the runup to the Finals last year.

Also enjoy watching games like Suns v GS...Run and gun with both teams makes for a different type of game.

My favorite non-Spurs players are Baron Davis and Mike Miller, so I guess I have to like their teams too.

If the Spurs can't win it all this year, I would root for the Celtics, mainly because I would like to see KG, Allen and Pierce get a ring. I also liked the 90's Jordan Bulls back in the day.

Warriors - because they strapped it on the Mavs last spring
Heat - because they "stormed" back into the NBA Finals and beat the Mavs

...but seriously

Pistons - Dumars keeps that organization in perennial contention

it would be Orlando without any rational reason yet

The San Antonio Sporks....

Seriously though, probably the Pistons. They're worthy opponents, and they play with the same team mentality. They're definitely don't play pretty, but neither do the Spurs.

Pistons (the Spurs of the East, well not quite, but similar...)
newlook Celtics (nice to see KG on a winning team again)
Hornets (gotta love Chris Paul & crew)
Trailblazers (young and upcoming)

I liked the Bulls back in the day like everybody else. I liked the 76ers back when they had A.I., but I can't root for him on the Nuggets because I hate the Nuggets.

I think now, besides the Spurs, the teams I like to see win are the Rockets, Warriors, and Raptors.

I don't like the mavs but I like Dirk and I hope he will get a ring (not this year of course)

Barbarian

lol @ Dirk getting a ring.

I was a bit of a bandwagon fan when the Sonics got to the finals. Back when kemp was amazing to watch(damn....what a waste of talent). GP was awesome as well.

Other than that never really liked anyone else other than Spurs. If anything, I have respect for the Pistons and their fans but I can't fucking stand their PA guy. :bang

+1

The Pistons are my second-favorite team after the Spurs. They are the only team to take the Spurs to 7 games in the Finals. Their lineup is as deep and talented as the Spurs, and they can grind you and wear you down just like the Spurs can. I'm hoping for another Spurs-Pistons Finals this year.

As far as individual players not on the Spurs or Pistons go, I like:

Baron Davis - The guy does it all...I really respect his game.

LeBron James - He took a team of scrubs to the NBA Finals...IMHO, he's as good as, if not better than, Kobe...and he's only 23!

Dwight Howard - This guy is a freak of nature! He's only 22 and he is the youngest player in NBA history to reach 3000 rebounds, youngest player in NBA history to average a double-double, and the youngest player in NBA history to record 20 rebounds in one game.

Well, since my first team is the lakeshow....then I'll say the Spurs right now. I used to despise them with their bullshit and didn't like that dude Jaren Jackson and Mario Ellie, but still a classy bunch and a great organization. Other than that I was a closet Suns fan when Chuck was in Phoenix.

my second favorite team is the cavs. i had a roommate in college who i'm still good friends with who was from cleveland, so it was just natural to take an interest in following them, especially once they drafted lebron. the fact that they're in the east means there isn't too much rivalry between them and the spurs. that said, when we faced them in the finals, i was as delighted as anyone to sweep one of the nba's golden boys.

i LOATHED the 90s bulls. anyone else feel the same way? or did everyone respect them so much that they were able to overlook the media fawning, rampant bandwagoning, etc?

Yeah I hated the Bulls as well...but they won a ton of games and have the rings to feed their arrogance and media fawning. They derserved it...but if you liked another team in that era, it was SOL.

i even rooted for the malone/stockton jazz against the bulls, and i HATED that team. i found myself desperately trying to like bryon russel and jeff hornacek. and the original "big dog," antoine carr. rooting for the sonics against the bulls in the finals was good fun, though.

I still couldn't root for the Jazz..... :) Big Dog, Ostertag, Malon, Hornacek and Stockton too funny for words.

Sonics. I loved the Dale Ellis-Tom Chambers-X Man teams. To get through the nineties and the Mavs sucking so hard, I had to adopt a mistress, and the Payton and Kemp teams had former Mavs like Detlef and Smoove Sam. And now they have Durant, and I'm partial to him since he played for my alma mater.

Sucks that they're leaving Seattle. Hopefully they can do like the Browns and keep the name, colors and records in Seattle for a future franchise.
