View Full Version : Suns @ Portland official game thread

Portland comes from losing an important game against the GSW in Oakland, but also has shown it can compete with good teams at home when they beat the Lakers last week.
The Suns are trying to avoid losing the 4th game of the last 5, and stop dropping in the seedings. According to their coach:

"I think it's probably an understatement if I say we are struggling," coach Mike D'Antoni said. "I think it just comes down to playing hard. Playing with emotion. And we have not done it."

and...

"This has nothing to do with Shaq," D'Antoni said. "This has something to do with urgency and playing with heart."

This one might turn into an interesting game.

That tlong character has seemingly dissapeared after the blazers have fallen out of the playoff picture. He talked a lot of shit.

Portland at home is a very tough team. Much like Utah. I expect another PHX loss tonight.

Shaq goes for 18 and 11, Amare goes for 35 and 10, Grant Hill shoots 75% from the field, Nash dishes out 15 assists.

And the Suns lose, after giving up 125 points.

What's the over/under for a D'Antoni tantrum before the 4th quarter?

Xylus

I wish Nash would call D'Antoni out.

Should be a good game. We are starting to play well again so I think we'll be in this one.

Finally the Suns are playing with energy and desire. Shaq's had some great 3/4 or full court passes that lead to buckets. Suns playing with energy on D too.

Xylus
03-04-2008, 11:18 PM
About fucking time. But can they sustain the defensive energy for 48 minutes? If Portland makes a comeback, it'll be a moral defeat.

BillsCarnage

I think they can hold on. Their playing the best ball since the trade against a team that's good at home. As long as they don't get complacent they should be fine.

I want the Suns to go on a three game winstreak against Portland, Denver and Utah...each by 20 points.

it'll make the game against them on Sunday much sweeter if we win.

Shaq with a +20, highest +/- on the team, with 9 rebounds, at halftime.

What the fuck, the Blazers just scored like 12 points in 2 minutes. 30-19, Blazers outscore the Suns in the 3rd quarter. Awesome.

Stooopid second half by the Suns.. The D played good down the stretch, but it should never have come to that.

Couple of positive things:

-The Suns blew the better part of a 20-point lead, yes, but it wasn't because of terrible defense. For the game, the Blazers only shot 40.9%, with only 21 points in the 4th quarter. When the offense stalled in the 2nd half, particularly at the very end of the game, the Suns did a great job holding off the surging Blazers. It was our offense that was off tonight, not our defense. I can live with that.

-Their backcourt didn't light us up too bad. Roy had 25 points, but he played 42 minutes.

-Diaw played 24 minutes tonight...while Shaq played 34 and Nash played 38. What the fuck is your problem, D'Antoni?

-We won the rebounding war, 42-39, which we've been doing consistently since Shaq arrived. :clap

-Before tonight, the Blazers were 22-8 at home, after having beat the Lakers a few nights ago. The Rose Garden is no easy place to play, so I'll take it.

The Blazers are a hard team to beat at the Garden, no doubt.

Watching that team play, I have to say they have some mean talent on that team...Roy, Aldridge, Outaw and Oden. That's a big friggin team that can shoot jumpshots or take it to the rim.

They're going to be killer next year.

Only thing is now they have to fly to Denver play them, then fly back to Phx to play Utah Friday and SA on Sunday.

Nice job playing Nash 100 minutes, D'Antoni, right before you send him to the Rockies on a b2b.
