Manu has been playing the best basketball of his NBA career. He's so good that the spurs was able to win games despite the early injuries from Parker and Duncan. Duncan is and will always be the Top man for SA, But considering the MVP race, Is this the year when Ginobili would probably be getting more MVP votes than Duncan?

They should give it to kobe this year and take back dirk's last year and give it to Duncan.

My only concern is Manu and Td's vote. I know it's either Kobe and Lebron in the end. But assuming that Manu and Timmy would be considered in the list - who would you guys think would have the greater number of votes?

I doubt Manu would get many (if any) MVP votes. He didn't even make the All-Star team.

LeBron and Kobe will be front runner for MVP, along with Chris Paul.

No sh1t. I know his MVP award was for the regular season, but Dork, I mean Dirk, choked so badly in that GS series that they should have revoked it. It was embarrassing to watch. No leadership whatsoever.

i could care less

but tim duncan should be up there with the votes, since it looks like we might be on pace to win 60 games....only kobe can stop td from liftin up a regular season mvp if the lakers also get 60wins

Great observation. You have a great point there Kori. Forgive my ignorance, but is there a player in NBA history who won the MVP award although he was not named in the All star team?

What?!?

This isn't Timmy's Spurs, or Manu's Spurs

It's the San Antonio Spurs

Manu is too inconsistent and Tim already has his. Plus, it's not like either are carrying this team like most other front-runners. We play team ball.

timmy would get more. in games where manu played big, timmy was also impressive.

Kobe will likely get it. However if Duncan finished the year strong, with numbers about 21 and 12 and the Spurs are the best in the west, he will get MVP votes.

There is actually an article today that discusses this very topic:

1. (2) San Antonio Spurs – Is this the first season Manu Ginobili gets more MVP votes than Tim Duncan?

Ludden used to cover the Spurs. Must be an inside joke.

Manu only got noticed when he was getting us those wins along with Timmy, with Parker out on the RRT and his monster tear and Horry's right, without him stepping up in February--even with Timmy getting 20 a night--we would probably be where Dallas and Phoenix are this week, playing catch up from 7th seed. :lol
Unless he has another one of those stretches this month, I don't see him staying with Timmy in talks, but it's pretty cool that he's turned heads enough to be a "mention" despite having Tim Duncan on his team this year.

No, if people can't even consider him as good as kobe, he won't be considered as good as Duncan, and neither of them will get the mvp vote because they often alternate who has the statistically better game. Manu would have had a slight chance if he'd have kept up the constant 30-40 pt games though.

TD transcends the award anyway. Following on the heels of Nash and Dirk, does it really seem to mean all that much? Especially when most would take TD instead of those two on their team if they had the option?

Now if we're talking finals mvp...that'll be a trickier situation.

Timee averages a double double... Manu doesn't

Manu is averaging 20/5/5 in 30 mpg,and that's awsome for a SG.
Still TD gets more votes tham Manu, that's just the way it is.

Manu would get it only if people from San Antonio and Argentina were allowed to vote.
