View Full Version : Suns @ Nuggets - 03.05.08

Big game for both the Suns, who are trying to create a little momentum against good teams in the Shaq era, and the Nuggets, who are struggling to make the playoffs in a truly packed conference (they're only 2 games out of Golden State).

What do you think the outcome of this one will be? Denver is a great home team (23-7), while Phoenix is a very good road team (19-11). Both teams are 5-5 in their last 10. Both teams are in the middle of a disturbing slump. Both teams play extremely inconsistent defense that borders on "just plain awful" at times, but have the ability to destroy you with offense.

As an aside... NuGGeTs-FaN: Care for a friendly wager? Whoever's team is victorious tonight will choose a Suns- or Nuggets-related image to place in the loser's signature, where it must stay there for a week.

sure thing mate :smokin

I'm 95% sure the Suns will win but sometimes the Nuggets decide to turn up for big games.

I'm pumped coz they are showing this on ESPN in Africa and so i can watch it.

I hope both teams turn up and play their top games and score 140+ :lol

Best of luck to the Suns and their fans :clap

Oh, and the loser gets to have Rick Carlisle.

I think the Suns will be gassed, both physically and mentally, from being up against Portland 20 points, only to let it get down to 2 points and have to play their ass off up till the final min to get the W, and Denver hasnt played since Sunday so i think Denver wins this one. Then what sucks is the Suns have to play Utah on Friday, Boozer & Williams will wanna pick and roll them to death, then Sunday play the Spurs.

NuGGeTs-FaN

wow the suns and Nuggets have insane schedules coming up

Nuggets have Suns tonight, Spurs on friday and then in Utah vs the Jazz on Saturday :drunk AND then in San Antonio vs the Spurs :pctoss

Both teams need tonight big time coz they could both easily be looking at a couple of losses afterwards.

:lol :clap

I hope the Nuggs lose then. Im sick of 'bandaid' wins. GK needs to go ASAP.

Kleiza is questionable for the game :pctoss I'm mad coz i know this is the kind of game he would love. Open shots will be plentiful :lol

Who to root for? A Suns loss puts them only one ahead of us in the loss column. A Nuggets loss puts some breathing distance between us and the ninth seed.

March is shaping up to be a very good month to be a basketball fan. As for this game, I'm pulling for the Nuggets, and I think they'll make it close but the Suns will win a close game. Prove me wrong KMart!

I had guessing outcomes, but I'd have to give the nod to the Butt-Nuggets as they have the "revenge" factor from the last game and it's in Denver. If Shaq can anchor the middle with the same energy as last night the Suns have a chance.

Seems like Phx is finally developing another rival in Denver.. Suns/Nugs.. Dbacks/Rockies.

Have I mentioned I hate S.A.S.? I hate S.A.S. so much last year in the finals I saw him walking around in the back area of the AT&T Center and asked him if he was Ahmad Rashad... just to piss him off.. and it worked brilliantly.

Denver and Phoenix look like the same team. Scoring at will, and absolutely no defense whatsoever.
What's terrible about the Nuggets is that they're playing at home, can't afford to lose any more games and yet you don't see them playing with any kind of urgency.

Will the Suns make the playoffs?

Of course.

I fully expected to get blown out worse than this. If we won this I thought we could definitely win the championship! Everything was against us. Back-to-back, Denver well rested. Denver at home. Suns still trying to work in Shaq (not to mention two other new players). Up-tempo team that can blow us out sometimes, just like Golden State. Plus, Karl saying the next game against us was going to be fun, after he thought we rubbed it in their faces the last game. I knew it was going to be a dangerous game.

For the life of me i never got why the Suns made the Shaq deal?? Seemed like a desperate move by them because they were panicked that they did not have what it took to win it all. They gave Marion away for Shaq who is older, not nearly as athletic, less versatile, much more injury proned and makes far more money. How is that a good trade on any level???? The Suns system is all about fast paced offense and great athletes. They can't play D so they are going to run you out of the Gym with fast breaks and shoot a bunch of 3's. Shaq just can't play in that type of system, not anymore at least.

Jeremy
03-06-2008, 12:27 AM
BTW, Shaq had 18 rebounds tonight. Great effort by Shaq, just too many turnovers again which leads to bad defense. Plus Amare in foul trouble.

NuGGeTs-FaN
03-06-2008, 12:34 AM
Kmart did a great job on Amare tonight and even chipped in 17 on the offensive end.

Nuggets get Chucky Atkins back next game vs the Spurs :clap

He has been injured the whole season pretty much. When he has played he has been playing injured :pctoss . Says he feels fine now and wants to show the Nuggets why they made the right choice in signing him.

Another 3 pt threat and steady PG will be nice.

Seriously it doesn't matter how good Shaq's numbers are. He has destroyed D'antoni's system single handedly though losing Marion could easily be said the MVP of that system. Bell or Diaw for Shaq would be a fair offer but Marion is clearly better than Shaq.

He had 18 boards

18 rebounds doesnt matter when the big shaqtus clogs the lane from the smooth flowing offense the suns had. 18 rebounds doesnt matter when he doesnt play defense in the middle causing players to have layup drils.

Once again...its NOT a concidence that the Suns are now losing since Shaq has been here. YES, his numbers are great, but he himself is the reason that the team cant do what they are accustomed to doing.

I absoultely cannot understand those people who are blaming Shaq for the Suns downfall.

Marion was able to hide a LOT of Amare Stoudamire's deficiencies and D'Antoni's poor system of SUns basketball. Amare is an absolute joke of a player. What exactly does he do without Steve Nash? Is he capable of creating his own shot consistently? No. Is he capable of passing the ball? No. Amare can score 25-40 points off of Nash pick and roll assists and that's all. What exactly makes this guy so special that the Suns were hesitant to trade him for KG?

Not only that, but as I said in another thread, his defense is hands down the worst I have ever seen from a big man. Even worse than Fransico Elson.

Steve Nash Sarcastically Asks Shaq To Slow Down

PORTLAND—In the midst of four consecutive fast breaks during their Tuesday night game against the Trailblazers, Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash repeatedly voiced scathingly sarcastic comments regarding newly acquired teammate Shaquille O'Neal's lack of speed. "Whoa, slow down there, big fella! You're making us all look bad!" said Nash as he and the other four Suns players on the court ran past a hunched-over O'Neal during another breakaway. "Somebody reign in Lightning there! Hey, Shaq, we're really gonna need you to stand around and miss free throws for us in the playoffs, so don't blow your wad just yet." Nash often makes similar remarks when the teammates are eating meals together, usually without the sarcasm.
