What Seattle should do come to an agreement that they can keep the name and history should another team move there in the future. Similar to what Cleveland did w/ the Browns.

Oh, I think the team was gift-wrapped for Bennett from the get-go. He and Stern are very close. I doubt Seattle bidders would have been given any real chance to compete with ol' Clay. If Seattle had wanted to keep the team, they would have had to cave to Schultz's demands before he put the team up for sale, even though the Sonics' financial troubles were because of his own lack of due diligence.

The other piece of this is that Stern is looking to make an example of Seattle to show what happens when a municipality dares balk at the demands of an NBA owner. He needs to inspire some irrational fear, because after all there are not actually any more legitimate markets for an NBA team to move to in North America.

Well, except Seattle.
