LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Olden Polynice is returning to the Los Angeles Clippers, nearly 12 years after his first stint with the team.

Polynice last played in the NBA with the Utah Jazz in the 2000-2001 season, averaging 5.3 points and 4.7 rebounds in 81 games.

He signed with the Philadelphia 76ers last October but was released two weeks later after seeing limited action in four preseason games.

Polynice later had short stays with the Harlem Globetrotters, Grand Rapids Hoops of the Continental Basketball Association and Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs of the United States Basketball League.

The 7-foot, 250-pound Polynice also has played for Seattle, Detroit and Sacramento. He averaged 12.3 points and 9.1 rebounds in 31 games for the Clippers in the 1990-91 season and 8.1 points and 7.1 rebounds in 76 games the following season.

Last April in Salt Lake City, the 38-year-old Polynice was fined $450 and ordered to get anger management therapy for yelling obscenities at a prosecutor. He pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace for confronting Holladay city attorney Lohra Miller in a hallway last December after a court hearing on his conviction for a fight on a golf course.

Polynice served two days in jail for assaulting the golfer. That conviction violated terms of a plea bargain he made for a previous conviction of impersonating a police officer, according to his lawyer, Greg Skordas. scoop (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/gen/wire?messageId=19014367)
