I'm not able to do much Play by Play tonight.

Keith McCleod on a nice cut under the basket and hangtime layin but did anyone see Borchard grab Rasho and pull him back so that McCleod could score?

Johnny_Blaze_47
01-10-2005, 09:22 PM
Look at that line from Rasho! The most consistent Spur right now!

2 points
2 rebounds
1 assist

Take that, Parker!

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:24 PM
Duncan getting no respect and gets hacked again, no call.

Barry does the threeball, though!

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:25 PM
Barry is sick wit it on another quickrelease three!

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:28 PM
15-15 with 3:15 left. Parker dribble penetrates for a high layin off the glass.

Spurs not getting pushed around in the paint and Utah can't muscle up a shot inside, miss, miss, miss, rebound Rose!

Parker takes McCleod inside and is hacked.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:32 PM
Rose goes in for dunk and Kirk Snyder Flagrant fouls Malik with no regard for Rose's fall.

Sloan argues but Snyder pushes Rose's midsection while going for block while Rose is in the air

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:38 PM
Okur all over Malik's back and grabs Malik's arm for rebound and Olesiak calls foul on Rose. :(

Parker throws ball through Malik's legs, o/b.

McLeod takes it strong to basket and throws up a hope shot and the Jazz crash the boards. Okur fouled on upfake, hard. 2 FTs good.

This is the Jazz tempo and style. Physical, cheat, rob, and steal and the refs are just ODD tonight.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:40 PM
Udrih, Gino, Brown, Rose, Rasho start 2nd down 23-20.

Manu threads great backdoor pass to Udrih for 2.

Grim1
01-10-2005, 09:42 PM
Doesn't look like the Spurs know what they're doing out there. I guess they GROSSLY underestimated the Jazz, because the Spurs (for being the Spurs) are STRUGGLING so far against a team they should be blwoing out.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:43 PM
Great D by Spurs, late in shot clock, The ball is bouncing weird. Rebound Okur, I'm not sure how back to Eisley for 3.

Udrih in the lane on 10 foot rolls in.

Raul Lopez scores at other end.

Spurs keep trying to take it in and Jazz are packing it and reaching. Devin stuffed and Manu misses wing jumper.

01-10-2005, 09:46 PM
the spurs suck, again, tonight.
outrebounded, offense isn't even getting shots, suck, suck, suck.
with luck, we'll get 70 pts tonight.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:47 PM
Eisley has nowhere to pass so takes a three, swish!

Rose takes it strong all the way in and is hacked, no call, but makes layup.

Lopez early offense scores again for Jazz. Jazz are aggressive and confident. 33-26

Those threes hurt.

Udrih drives baseline on Lopez and is fouled on hard reach-in.

Starters less TP are in.

Lopez creates TO on Beno dribble, fastbreak score. Lopez is really bringing energy and is making things happen.

01-10-2005, 09:47 PM
Duncan better come back into the game after this timeout, I'm getting worried that he's hurt

Grim1

It seems to me the Jazz are in COMPLETE control of this game, manipulating the Spurs like they're weak little puppets.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:50 PM
Utah in 2-3 zone. Parker 18 ft from wing, swish! 35-30.

Great passing, extra pass by Jazz' Eisley to Borchard for dunk.

Timeout Spurs. 37-30.

Grim1
01-10-2005, 09:50 PM
This is actually funny. The Spurs are pretty much getting their ass kicked by an inferior injury riddled Jazz team. What's funnier is the Spurs don't appear to have ANY answers!

Solid D
01-10-2005, 09:57 PM
Duncan 2 FTs.

Eisley top of key jumper.
Rasho hook shot good two straight trips.

Okur long jumper from wing.

Double dribble Parker.

Lopez high runner off glass good and 1.

Bowen midrange leaner from wing, good. 38-43 Jazz

boutons
01-10-2005, 09:59 PM
can't we put together 4 qtrs of good basketball against a lottery team? this is sickening.

Sure, we pull it out in the 2nd half and win, but two qtrs 1 and 2 are irredeemably bad.

Grim1
01-10-2005, 09:59 PM
The Spurs have WAY too many problems, which they aren't doing anything about, to be SERIOUSLY considered one of the top teams. Their record is misleading. The Spurs fall apart at the seams WAY too easily. Tonight is evidence of that...AGAIN.

Grim1
01-10-2005, 10:00 PM
The Spurs do not know the meaning of playing "48 minutes".

Grim1
01-10-2005, 10:03 PM

Solid D
01-10-2005, 10:04 PM
TP, Barry, Bowen, Duncan Rasho in now

Duncan grabbed taking it into the lane. 2 FTs good. Manu sits with 3 fouls.
40-43.

Jazz shooting 46%.

McCleod takes it to hole hard and fouled by Rasho. Rasho won't help him up.
FTs good. 40-45.
1:08 left in half. Duncan misses wing bank shot.

Duncan dribbles between legs to get past the arms and scores in the lane! 42-45. Tim willed that one in.

Duncan blocks Arroyo at buzzer. 42-45. Halftime.

I had a bad feeling about this game see predictions that would be closer than expected, but Spurs will probably pull out the win, and a win is a win, if so 29 and 7 is ok no matter what. Spurs do too often play down to opponent!!!

Would you want to be a fly on the wall in Spurs locker room Pop is going to going ape *&%* and he should!!!

Duncan is coming alive and keeping it close. Down 3. At least kept it within range. What has the substitution pattern been this game.

Meanwhile Wolves lost big lead now down 6 to Lakers 6 left in 4th. Talk about problems!

Spurs looked like SHIT in the first half. They should learn from these collapses, but they never do.

The fact that the Spurs played bad in the first half and they're still down by 3 only (+ the Jazz are obviously having a good day) makes your comments somewhat silly.
Besides I'm quite sure SA will win this one and if not, so what, they will only be 28-8... boo hoo

Grim1
01-10-2005, 10:12 PM
It's kind of funny how the Spurs will screw up or play less than great in one game and then make a resolve to not let it happen in the next game. And then it happens again anyway.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 10:13 PM
To answer your question about subs, Rummpd, Manu's pattern of two quick fouls, deserved or not, brought Barry in early. Other subs came in pretty much on schedule. I don't know is Rose will be back, depending on how banged up he feels from the hard fall he took on the flagrant.

Jazz are substituting liberally. McCleod, Lopez, Arroyo, Eisely - 4 PGs all played.

Just from a pure basketball perspective, I think the Jazz are really playing good, tough confident ball. They're are shooting lights out and moving the ball quickly.

My hat's off to them in for their first half. The Spurs weren't ready for that.

Grim1
01-10-2005, 10:20 PM
Sheesh, you people get awfully defensive. Could it be because the Spurs are struggling against a team they should be stepping all over? I guess I'll do what everyone else is doing and leave it at the Spurs having a bad night and it's no big deal that they lose. I mean, it's just one game. They don't add the loss column up anyway, do they?

The Jazz came out how they HAD to. If they came out any other way, they'd be down by 30 now. The Spurs on the other hand did their usual act..not coming out strong enough against a team they think is an easy win.

Manu takes it hard to basket. Fouled and hits 2 FTs. 44-45

Snyder stepback long 2 from left side over Bowen. good.

Parker wide open set shot from left corner, no good o/b

Giricek TO. Parker with strong move to hole and reach in by Giricek and McCleod. 1 of 2 FTs by Parker.

Manu apparently in & hit for 2 FTs at beginning of 2nd half = No worries, only down 1 but gave up a jumper other side. Back to 3.

Another turnover that is the key to deficit so far according to Spur announcer and Spurs few assists and no fast break points.

Back to 2 with Parker 1-2 on FTS - wish he could hit his FTs like almost any other PG. Offensive rebound Jazz back up to 4. Rasho misses stupid layup should have slammed = this really sucks. Jazz probably going up 6 with McCleod to line for two.

Down 6 time to turn it up Spurs - this beginning to really stink!

Duncan hits big shot and gets Boozer for foul and can make it a 3 pointer - this could be a turning point = Good. 3 point play and Duncan with 14 or so.

Another damm offensive rebound otherside, and a jumper = Jazz with hustle play and up 5 again, Duncan is heating up cuts it to 3 = 53 to 50. Seems he has come to play. McCleod hits on other side. Spurs scoring NOW get some stops down 3 s/p Parker shot.

Spurs in zone. Passing around by Jazz and then Giricek penetrates quickly to split defenders for layup.

Parker fouled 2 FTS. 54-57.

6;53 left in 3rd.

Parker and Tim switch. Tim gives McCleod space jumper from left wing swish.

Bowen good, from Tim.

Giricek long jumper over Bowen good. Parker quickly back on backdoor pass from Gino, layup good. 58-61. Not much defense by Jazz last few trips and Jazz are breaking the zone bigtime with long range bombs.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 10:34 PM

Eisley miss three from corner. Manu misses floater. Boozer falls into Bowen crashing the lane again and Bowen called for foul. And 1. NOOOO they called it on Manu.

No they changed it again. FT good 80-81.

Manu dribbles behind back and weaves to basket!!!!!

McCleod with a similar move at other end for reverse layup. 82-83.

This game is so over and the Spurs defense has been exposed for what it really is. The Spurs came into the game flat, probably thinking it was an easy win, and now they're being slapped around by a pathetic team on a 9 game losing streak. The Jazz are not better than the Spurs...the Spurs are just better at SCREWING up than the Jazz.

2 FTs by McCleod. Manu overpowers Eisley in lane for 2!

Giricek with floater in lane, good. Bad D.

Manu gets in lane but misses this floater. Foul horry.

The Jazz wanted it more. Simple as that. They want to end this ridiculous losing streak against the Spurs and that's why they'll win.

The Spurs are just trading baskets when they should be stopping them. But hey, it's JUST ONE LOSS, right? So what? No big deal the Spurs lost to a .314 team on a 9 game losing streak. I mean, that's a CHALLENGE for the Spurs right? It'll be a GOOD loss. LMAO!

Jazz shooting FTs on every foul now. Okur hits 1 of 2 84-88.

TP pick and roll to Duncan for the layin over Eisley.

Other end Double tech on Eisley and Gino. Eisley cheap shot Gino and knocks him down with elbow and shove.

Duncan misses, Manju misses 3.

Okur fouled on jumper by Okur. 86-90. 4:20 left.

Manu to Horry deep in lane, fouled by Giricek and he fouls out.

Sloan has got to be very pleased with his team. Physical game.

Horry FTs good. 88-90.

Starters in for Spurs except Horry for Rasho. McCleod to Boozer for dunk. Crowd is in it. Duncan is blocked then misses from side.

Okur charges into Horry. Finally called. Timeout

2 point game this one is not over yet.

But more fts for Jazz other side. Probably down 4 with 4 1/2 to go.

Duncan playing well, but Parker has dissapeared. Critical possessions coming up. Manu was called for a tech on other side a minute back which hurt which seemed bogus like lot of game tonight on calls, but Jazz have been assertive. Horry to line for 2 Fts - good. Time for stops.

Another Off rebound-sucks, 92-88 after a slam dunk only 3 and 1/2 to go - cannot trade baskets. Need a score, Duncan and Manu both miss and this game probably over - but offensive foul on other side. 245 down 4 if pull out a miracle to avoid embarrasing loss - Spurs simply did not play up to potential tonight, Jazz hot and hustled and refs have appeared to be a slight factor.

But in the end Parkers missing 4 FTS could be difference in 3rd.

I bet popavich will be all up in arms over their OBVIOUS lack of defense. What good will it do? What good did it do last time? None. Good thing this LOSS won't count to TRUE Spurs fans. True Spurs fans accept they can't all be won. Even if they're playing a crappy injured .314 team like the sorrowful and weak Jazz...they shouldn't be expected to win them all. No, this is just a blow-off meaningless game. It doesn't mean the Spurs have ANY problems at all. Hell, they CHOSE to lose tonight didn't they? They intentionally played crappy defense just to see what would happen. This was an EXTREMELY tough team to play...the Jazz are considered one of the top 3 teams in the league...so you can expect the Spurs NOT to win, RIGHT? Just ONE MEANINGLESS loss.

13 seconds - Utah can win. 96-95 7 seconds time out.

There is definitly something wrong with Tim Duncan, he steps so gingerly.

Solid D
01-10-2005, 11:46 PM
Manu and Tim did a great job in the last few minutes of helping the Spurs to pull ahead. Manu's converting on drives and that big three, plus Bowen's three were huge.

The Jazz were very physical at the end and it paid off for them. No one is going to call fouls at that juncture of the game. The last play, following Manu's very near miss was a microcosm of the game. McCleod trying to draw the foul, misses, but Okur charges in from the top of the key and shoves Horry out of the way while Boozer shoves Duncan in the back and out of bounds...for the winner.

The Jazz earned it with their style of play and the Spurs played too poorly early in the game. Tony's 5 missed FTs played too big of a role, unfortunately.
