I have doing some more statistical checking and here's what I've come up with:

Spurs record through March 6, 2007, since Tim Duncan arrived in 1997

Regular season, games with Duncan

578 wins

224 losses

.721 winning percentage

59.1 wins/82 games

Games without Duncan

24 wins

22 losses

.522 winning percentage

42.8 wins/82 games

Playoffs, games with Duncan

91 wins

47 losses

.659 winning percentage

4.6 wins/7 games

Games without Duncan

1 win

4 losses

.200 winning percentage

1.4 wins/7 games

All Games with Duncan

669 wins

271 losses

.712 winning percentage

58.4 wins/82 games

5.0 wins/7 games

All games without Duncan

25 wins

26 losses

.490 winning percentage

40.2 wins/82 games

3.4 wins/7 games

pretty impressive

I cannot think of a more impressive 10-year run in any sport, outside of QB Otto Graham, Cleveland Browns, 1946-1955.

M... Michael?

I'm sorry, not Michael.

The Bulls averaged 49 wins per season from 1984/85 -1993/94.

I'm impressed with your determination to prove Duncan is the best.
I'm pretty sure everyone on SpursTalk knows where I stand on the subject. :)

But I don't think you're ever going to convince everyone, even with the impressive stats that Duncan has.
There are so many other factors that play into why a player is great.
People will always have their own opinion and interpretation of those factors.

Always good to keep Spurs fans armed and dangerous with the stats.

:-)

And also good in case any kobe or MJ fans wander in.

I thought this thread was going to be about Manu.

funny you say that..
im a pretty huge jordan fan.
my aunt was the coreographer of the chicago luvabulls, and so i got a picture with him, and shoes that say 'to david, from michael jordan'
so, yeah, i think he is the greatest overall ever; but duncan, by far, is the greatest power forward, no, forward, ever.

I don't think that the argument here was that duncan is better than Jordan. I think it's that Duncan has had one of the best 10 year stretches ever, even compared to a guy like jordan.

Wait, somebody will turn it to one. Duncan with & without Manu.

The Bulls went 57-25 in 1992/93

The next year, with Jordan retired, the Bulls went 55-27

This does not compare to Duncan.

Jordan is also a guard, not a big man.

The days of little men dominating basketball are pre-George Mikan/WWII

You forgot to mention the Bulls 60 win seasons prior to the 92-93 season.

Jordan managed 5 60+ seasons over his career, all within an 8 year period. Granted he was out for a 2 seasons.

However, Duncan's career isn't over yet. If he can capture a couple more rings, I think the arguement is more than justified. We just have to wait and cheer.
