Let the media go nuts over the Lakers. Other than Kobe and Fisher that team has a shitload of unproven post-season players that has never won jack shit. Mavs won 67 games last year how did that work out for them???? Spurs are the best team, the most battle tested team, they fear nobody come playoff time and they will be ready for battle. :toast

Your team just made it this yr on top on WC after an almost non-playoff appearances after ShaQ left your team and having exited in the 1st round(compliments from Phoenix), and were happy with your accomplishment, but I think the Spurs deserves some respect too.

would probably depend on the possible 1st round matchup. april 13 is their last matchup for this regular season. both teams will then face the kings in consecutive days. the spurs will be playing the jazz on the final day of the regular season. its conceivable that both teams will try to decide where they fall on the standings to get the most favorable matchup. so getting either 1 or 2 isn't as important as who will they face.
DazedAndConfused
03-08-2008, 01:27 PM
I think whomever makes that #8 seed is going to be a good matchup for the Lakers. We can take the Suns, GSW, and DEN if we play them in the 1st round. The Spurs have more cause for concern because they prob. dont want to face the Mavs or Jazz the 1st round and would rather take on the Bugs or the Rox.

For the moment at least, the teams are actually tied in the loss column. If the Spurs win the game they have in hand, the teams will be tied, but statistically, the Spurs will lead the West because, for the moment (again), they hold the tiebreaker over LA, 2-1.
That's not to say that none of that will change, but this giddiness over being percentage points ahead when two teams have the same number of losses is silly. When one team has more losses, the lead might be significant.

The Lakers need to worry more about their center than their seeding. Bynum's return ETA keeps getting pushed back -- not a good sign.
Chronic injuries at the knee level or below are bad news for basketball players. Especially when they creep up on one so young.

Bynum won't be be back until early April, perhaps 3-4 weeks later than the 8 week MINIMUM timeframe suggested initially. Phil is going to bring him in off the bench and slowly work him into rotation. If he doesn't gel well enough with the starting 5 he will just come off the bench for the playoffs. Just having him out there on the floor is a positive for us.

I don't really care if the Spurs stay at 2. As long as they keep the division.
It only looks nice to see ourselves sitting atop number 1, because I'm it drives the media and ESPN crazy, being only ones in the way of press releases heralding "LAKERS ARE BACK! LAKERS ARE NUMBER 1 ! Unstoppable! Can no one knock them off!??"

He can still help us out immensely from the bench. As with any knee injury it's hard to predict what the recovery process will be like and how long it will take. We all thought he was going to be back mid March as the early reports were optimistic but it seems like the swelling is going to holding him out an extra 3-4 weeks.

Well since the Lakers are the best team in the NBA, invincible, and clearly the most battle tested, proven team out of all the playoff teams, why can't we just end the season now before I get too disappointed? I mean really. I don't want Boston fans, Detroit fans, Mavs fans, and Suns fans to be disappointed either.

I have no issue with the Lakers being number one in the West.
I have no issue with the Lakers being "back."
I don't care about POTY points. (Except counting them, I enjoyed doing that.)
My only issue in this thread, and other threads he's trashed, is Princess Pimp and his worthless trolling.
There's a Troll Forum on ST to be obnoxious in.
Princess Pimp should take it there.
If he's going to troll the main boards he should at least do it with style. Be funny. Bring something to the conversation, even if it's just to stir the pot. Like mouse does. (:))
Trolling just to be nasty and obnoxious gets under my skin when it's in a basketball conversation thread.
I rarely go off on a troll.
I made my opinion known in this thread and for some reason people think I've gone off the deep end.
I really don't think what I said was that bad.
Others in this thread trashed him worse than I did.
Oh...It's 228, not 288. :)

Think they'll ever give it up now?
You do realize the Spurs and Lakers are the same in the loss column and SA holds the tiebreaker?
Spurs hold the #1 spot practically speaking

Isn't PrincessPuffs a girl.
I don't know.
The first time I said "him" in one of my earlier posts I put a question mark after it.
It was rumored when "he" first showed up under this user name that it might be fast dunk. So I went with "he."
Pretty fucking funny if I'm the one calling a woman poster a guy though. :lmao

Practically speaking, no they don't.
And the tie-breaker is meaningless since the season doesn't end until April 17th. Spurs have to EARN that tie-breaker by beating the Lakers in LA on April 13th. Because as we know, SA has an average conference record compared to the Lakers, who have the BEST conference record in the West.

Rockets will beat them...btw, we are now 1.5 games behind you guys.
Dada is right. By next week I think the Rockets move ahead of the Spurs in the standings. Then the week after that..ugh Lakers, Celtics, Warriors, Suns. All bets are off. Would be funny though if we can get through this entire stretch unscathed.
Rockets schedule next 3 games.
New Jersey, Atlanta, Charlotte
Spurs schedule next 3 games.
Phoenix, Denver, New Orleans - ewwww

If Rockets are undefeated with the streak 21 consecutive victories when they meet the Lakers, can you belive what a signature game that would be? That game will be huge!

I can't wait till next Sunday. The Lakeshow has successfully spoiled like 3 debuts this year, most notably being Shaq's debut in PHX, and I can't wait to end this little hot streak you got going on right now. Kobe will Colordao-Ass-Rape McGrady, he does it everytime they play each other.

If the Lakers win tonight, 1.5 game lead on the Spurs.
