James' jerseys among top sellers in all sports
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
CLEVELAND (AP) _ LeBron James already got the better of Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant and Jason Kidd _ in jersey sales.
Last week, James' wine-colored No. 23 Cleveland Cavaliers road uniform ranked second in sales among all licensed sports apparel, behind only a Michael Jordan model, according to SportScanINFO.
The company, based in West Palm Beach, Fla., tracks sales of sports apparel and footwear for the NBA and other clients.
Sales of James' jerseys have topped $4 million since they went on sale June 26, the night he was drafted No. 1 overall straight out of high school.
Part of the reason for the high sales figure is that at an average price of $43, the jerseys are basically twice the price of a typical sports T-shirt.
And James is making the Cavaliers marketable again: The team has jumped 17th to sixth among NBA teams in apparel sales, according to SportsScanINFO. becauseofkobething (http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/gen/wire?messageId=18841524)
