Paula Deen Is Trying to Kill Us, Part 4: Bacon, Doughnut, Egg Burger

Posted by Adam Kuban, March 4, 2008 at 3:30 PM

On Serious Eats, we've got a bit of a running joke about all the ways in which Food Network superstar Paula Deen is trying to kill us (see P.D.I.T.T.K.U. Parts 1, 2, and 3). Introducing the Lady's Brunch Burger, her doughnut-bun burger. Sure, we've championed doughnut burgers on A Hamburger Today before, and Ms. Paula's isn't all that much different:

Sandwiched between sticky glazed doughnuts? Check.

Bacon? Check.

But the Lady steps it over the top by adding ... a FRIED EGG!

Paula Deen is hella annoying. She thinks fruit salad covered in sugars and whip cream is healthy because it has fruit in it. Hmmm no.

Some people have wondered why it seems that every person in rural Georgia weighs a minimum of 300 lbs and dies at age 50. Now we know.

Why don't they just make a fucking omelet, cover it in potatoes, and stuff it inside a filled glaze donut?

I love Paula Dean, but her voice drives me crazy, y'all.

Her vegetable beef soup recipe is to die for ... and I don't mean because it's full of butter and sugar, it's actually pretty healthy as far as anything she makes goes. :lol

That burger is pretty revolting...but does it compare to the Elvis Killer?

The Fools Gold Loaf:

The ingredients:

1 loaf of Italian bread.

1 jar Smucker's grape jelly.

1 jar Skippy's peanut butter.

1 stick butter.

1 pound bacon.

Estimated serving size: 8-20. Or Elvis.

I've never tried it with peanut butter or butter ... but bacon & (grape) jelly sandwiches are really good. :tu

Yeah...you can kind of get an idea for what it's going to taste like by the bacon and grape jelly thing...lots of us have had that taste either or accidentally or intentionally just by eating breakfast.

I have made one after reading the story behind it...Elvis liked these so much he actually had his private jet fly his enitre posse to Denver from Memphis in the middle of the night to get one from the restaurant that originated them.

I personally wasn't that impressed with the actual sandwhich I made...though it is interesting to eat something that will put you on the verge of both cardiac arrest and diabetes at the same time.

I have a feeling that donut burger is probably similar...although that Fried Egg is probably too healthy for the rest of the sandwich.
