Has Baylor played themselves squarely onto the bubble? The only reason they wouldn't be is their RPI, but it's pretty iffy how much recent committees really care about that stupid number.

Whatever worries Baylor would have had have likely been offset by much less deserving bubble teams also losing today. Same goes for A&M. I thought they might need two wins in this tourney, but I think they're in after today.
Good win by UNL, hopefully they can give the Jayhawks a test.
OSU can give Tejas some problems if they get hot from 3.
Colorado, good to see you, you're likely done after tomorrow.

Aggies still didn't play well and hopefully the flu bug doesnt take out the rest of the team tonight. Tomorrow should be a good game assuming the aggies are at full strength.

I remember when the flu decimated OSU when we lost to Florida in the Elite Eight in 2000 which was DMase and Gottlieb's senior year.
OSU has played UT very well this year; lost by 2 on a last second shot at home and led late before losing by 5 @ Austin last Sunday. Eaton had an awful game yesterday but the rest of the team showed, which is encouraging. I would not be shocked to win but at the same time I would not be shocked to get beat by 25; just the sort of year we have had.
A freaky point about OSU's play:
Freshmen combined for 37 points and 15 rebounds, to include the game winning free throw, in addition to the game saving block and subsequent steal on the last 2 plays of the game.
Anyone remember that CU beat uo this year? I'm betting uo does.
The bugeaters got completely wiped off the face of the earth in their 2 meetings with KU this year - simply too many matchup probs. I see the same today.
I don't know what to think about the KSU/atm game. atm can't guard Beasley (who can?) but his supporting cast has been far from stellar of late. I don't see atm beating KSU but I didn't think atm could win at BU either and they did, of course now we know that wasn't ALL that big of deal.
I say in all cases the higher seed wins amidst little fanfare.

The aggies would be okay giving up Beasley's normal production, they cannot allow Walker to go off again. Considering how Jordan looked last night and that Jones was pretty much unavailable for the end of the game, I don't think the team is going to be healthy enough to win.
If ou allows that puss ass Roby to drop 32 on them, they don't deserve to be in the Big 12. :hat

Well, I have had the flu this past couple weeks. Whereas you are weak and a little queasy for 5-10 days, the really rolling nasty uncomfortable stage is only around 24-36 hours. I would expect Jordan, albeit a little weak, to be back but if Jones was just getting symptons that might not be good.

It depends if it's food poisoning or the flu (most people don't realize that these two ailments are very often misdiagnosed for each other).
I had this flu back in February, and if I had tried to play basketball with it, they could have forgotten the gurney and gone straight for the casket.
If it's food poisoning, it's quite possible that the guys could actually be 100% by tonight's game.

I agree OSU isn't that great, however UT (a sure-fire #2 seed) beat them 3 times by a combined 14 points, so not sure what that says about UT or parity or whatever.
It was actually a pretty decent game if not for the 14-0 run out of the gates in the 2nd half. Got as close a 3 in the last 3 mins, but couldn't get any closer.
Still, a very nice end to the year by beating 3 tourney teams and the only 3 teams to beat us in the last 11 games were to the #1/3/4 seeds in the B12. Couldn't have asked for much more after that 6-game losing streak.

hey, i just told you what happened 4 out of 5 years at WSU (and plenty of A&M fans thought it was happening here too). I'm looking around for any posts that are talking about A&M's strong finish heading into the Big 12 tourney...not finding them (and yes, I'm well aware that K-State limped to the finish themselves).
you can blow yourself over that mighty 8-8 season with a team that was picked 2nd.

I hope KU enjoyed the home-cooking they got in the second half last night... as if it wasn't painfully obvious by the no-calls, how the whistle didn't start blowing until KU started making their comeback, or the 24-6 free throw differential, a user at HuskerHoopsCentral did some research...
I found a site that sort of ranks the officials on a stat called "average home foul margin" and each of these 3 officials rank in the bottom 1/3 of all refs for calling more fouls against the visiting team than the home team.
Thornley is the worst, averaging 4.2 more calls against the visitors per game.
Davis is next at 3.41 more calls against the visitors per game.
And Self is "best" of the crew with a mere 2.51 more calls against the visitors per game.
Collectively, that crew accounts for 10.11 more calls against the visitors PER GAME, which corresponds with the free throw differential we saw tonight.
And of course that's just fouls. That says nothing about the uncalled stepping on the end line or the double dribble that wasn't called, etc.
I think it would be difficult to assemble a worse crew if you tried. All three in the bottom 1/3 of all officials. Good frickin grief.
Regardless, I'm really impressed with Nebraska's play last night and admit pulling the upset would of still been a long-shot even without KU's home cooking. Here's hoping NU can be playing in MSG in a few weeks.

i don't think the big 12 does KU any favors in terms of playing for a national title. every year, they get all the calls in conference play, then when they get the tournament and teams are allowed to body up to them and get physical, they just whine and look flabbergasted that they're not getting a 2::1 free throw advantage.

Gotta complete the okie domination first, 6 up and 6 down against the multitude of okies.
No Johnson, weakens that front line against a pretty good OU front line. Good news for Texas is that OU's guards suck.
Where's Abrahms? The shooter was MIA in the two gamer against OSU. Just a bad matchup?

OU's guards are insanely shitty. But the loss of johnson pretty much assures our season is as good as over.

I'm not gonna give you the Jordan disclaimer, we had to play every game without David Hoskins thanks to a knee injury, who people outside of North may not know was the best all-around player on KSU's 23 win team last year. He would have made a huge difference on a team that struggled for consistency around Beasley.
But - forgetting Jordan - A&M made some plays and definitely deserved the win. Bill Walker had another awful game when we needed him. And the KSU defense was just pathetic for long stretches. I don't think the Aggies had to take a contested jumper in the first half. They either got lay-ups or wide open 3s.
I actually highly respect A&M, my brother is an alum. But after watching him here in town for almost a decade, I stand by my statements that A&M could have done better than the Turg.
I will say this: I really wish the margin had been something other than 3 thanks to Kirk's slop bank-shot with the shot clock expiring. That being the difference had me pissed off for while.

1) DJ Augustin was displaced by Katrina
2) DJ Augustin played a lot of heated pickup ball with TJ Ford last summer
3) DJ Augustin went to the Steve Nash skills camp

Well, he had a huge game against KU, and played well in the first A&M match-up, so it's probably not fair to say that he disappears in big games. But he sure has been inconsistent of late. He doesn't really have much a jumper. His set-shot from 3 has been pretty solid since conference play started (although it was horrid last night), and he's a beast for anybody who isn't significantly bigger than he is to handle on the low block. But he gets frustrated easily (and I think his attitude wears on officials to the point that they'll hit him for chippies, and then let teams get physical with him on the other end), and he's not the kind of player who raises his game when he gets mad.
