Haven't you guys read any of the game day threads? It's Finley's fault. Him and him alone.

I wish Finley and Stoudamire would just retire already. Stoudamire can't hit a shot to save his life, might as well play vaughn.

Hell, I argue that Darius Washington could not have done any worse the Damon - given the same amount of minutes. If nothing else, he'd wouldn't be as big of a liability on D and would apply better on-the-ball pressure.

He seems lost out there. I've noticed many times where he takes the dribble backside and freezes.

2-10 fg. Damn.

He's not shy but he still doesn't look comfortable out there. Plus I haven't seen him take a single WIDE OPEN shot. He needs confidence more than anything. He can't just blindly shot the ball with people on him even though he might be getting advise from pop to shoot the ball more.

It is painful when Stoudamire pulls up for a shot. Damn, he makes me nervous. Everytime I see him I recall the 1999 championship video where he imitates Avery and the Spurs in the locker room, acting as if they're all tense while the Blazers are loose. For better or for worse.

Don't forget Boston getting Sam Casselll..
at least HE's a proven veteran, and winner.

SToudamire..all you can do is hope he pitches in, but I just don't see much from him.
Just another old guy, is what he's been. Was there really much to him on Memphis?

I said it in the game blog, but I'll say it again; Someone should dye Damon's hair red and maybe Pop will put him in the doghouse with Bonner. :tu

We probably could have gotten Sam..if Tony didn't get injuried and we needed a back up point so quickly!!!

03-14-2008, 10:23 PM
Looking back at it I probably would rather have Darius Washington right about now. He can't be worse than those two scrub back up point guards we've got out there. At least Darius can get to the rack and shoot the ball.

Stoudamire's game went into the toilet after he started chucking shots. Pretty much everyone can see that. That is all on Pop. He's wanted Damon to shoot he ball, but unfortunately he's not as good a shooter as Nick the quick so the result can only be worse.

Probably not as many as he has under D&Tony's system.

J_Paco
03-14-2008, 11:15 PM
I've always thought that the team would operate best with Tony having his score-first mentality, while his primary back-up having a more defensive-minded and passing mentality. Well, why does Pop want Damon to be a scorer? When, at his advanced age, he's obviously more suited to set-up Manu, Finley, Oberto, Udoka or (hopefully) Barry with open looks.

The hope will be that once the Spurs get back Barry into the fold that he can be counted on to take more of those perimeter shots with the 2nd unit and Pop will give Stoudamire the yellow light on his shot.

That would leave the team with only two players that can man the pivot, Timmy and Thomas. I've never loved Oberto's great "positional defense" and would prefer a shot-blocker over him (only Timmy does that). But, he does proved a wide-body that has 6 fouls to despense, plus he's got great chemistry on the floor with Manu & Timmy.

In the space of 2 months Stoudamire has gone from starter to playing scrub mins when the game is over. For a new guy on a championship team that's one big transition. When Parker wasn't around and JV was strugling, he was handy.(no complaints from fans either) Now that Pop has finally settled on Stoudamire's role as 3rd string PG, his confidence would be low.. so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he sucking it up. NVE and Ward were given a lot longer to prove them selfs. A few fans should try lowering their expectations and move on.
