...for the playoffs
STARTING LINEUP: tony, mike, bruce, tim and kurt
BENCH: manu, barry, udoka, oberto, (horry or bonner)
-manu should come off the bench but he shouldn't play less than 35 minutes.
-brent and mike minutes should be strictly proportional to how often they put the ball in the hole.
-pop should always give horry a chance early in the game if rob plays anything similar to a professional basketball player he shold stay if not put bonner in.
-use fab to rest TD and KT and udoka when bruce needs a break.
-DS and JV shouldn't play at all (use manu as PG when tony goes to the bench).
-and finally whe should have at least 2 of the big 3 at all times.
That's my opinion what's yours?
(sorry if you didn't understand something but english isn't my first lenguage)

Good post and I understood each and every word. I too, think that is our best rotation. We need Manu's energy off the bench and it allows several good things to happen. First off, Michael Finley is invisible as a bench player so go ahead and try to get him going early. Second, Manu & Fab know each other's tendencies and they click together. Third, we are missing Barry's energy like a Texan who has gone two plus days without Mexican food misses his taco's. Hurry back Brent!!! Fourth, with Manu and Barry we have two guys who can play Point Guard/Shooting Guard/Small Forward and spread the floor...especially with Udoka on the floor as well. Fifth, Horry, Bonner and Vaughn can be played as needed depending on who the opposing team has on the floor. Bonner has had some very good games but, Pop doesn't play him enough to help his consistency. So far I have been somewhat disappointed with Mighty Mouse. I think he has been too hesitant, i.e., not aggressive enough, but with some encouragement from Pop, coach Bud and his teammates, maybe he can come around by playoff time.
What we need more than anything is for us to get that fire back in our belly, quit holding our head's down and feeling sorry for ourselves and start kicking butt again. We have the players with the Championship Pedigree and we need to play like Champions. Get that attitude that the trophy is ours and you have to come with all you've got to try and take it away from us. If we get our attitude back we can get back on track and hoist another Championship Banner to the rafters of the AT&T Center.

Our big man rotation is the best in the NBA (Duncan/Scola/Oberto/Thomas/Horry)
but the back up PG issue shouldn't be too big of an issue when Barry comes back, he can make them look good by hitting the open 3s

I'd rather Oberto start, then Thomas come from the bench. Anybody else agree with me on this?

I'd rather Oberto start, then Thomas come from the bench. Anybody else agree with me on this?It doesn't matter to me between those two other than who we are playing (individual matchups for either) and to make sure Manu & Fab get plenty of time together. We need to get back in sync and start playing with a lot more consistency so come April Pop will need to pretty much have the rotation down ... depending on how Barry is working out. I would hope that his physical therapy has him totally healed but, he'll need to keep the calf warm when on the bench to help eliminate any further strain or pull.

Rotations mean nothing when the team isn't playing hard, holding teams to one shot, moving on offense, fighting for rebounds, sharing the ball, taking smart shots, making layups, hitting their free throws or finishing quarters strong.

Ouch.
It's been ugly to watch, it's even worse to read.

But it won't last. Unless they are different from all but one Spurs team in recent memory, they'll get a second wind at some point and this blip will be forgotten.

Actually that is part of our problem. Since Barry went bye-bye for a short stint in Seattle and KT and DS have been brought aboard the rotations have been kind of helter-skelter and everyone seems out of place when a pass is made or a rebound is needed. We are so out of sorts presently that we are clanging the bball off the back of the rim. You'd think that by now we'd be starting to jell since our additions have not been as big a change as the Mavs, Suns or Lakers have had with 3 big name additions to their lineups and our injuries have not been as big as the Rockets and Lakers have had to go through with Yao and Bynum out. But, I have faith in Pop and feel that come playoff we'll put up one hell of a fight in defending our Championship. I would be very disappointed if we don't at least go down without a fight.

I dont want to see Jacque on the floor simple as that, and Bonner; i dont know if he knows that there is something known as swinging the ball...

I'll have to process this through NBA 2k8 and simulate to the end of the season to see if this works out...

Totally disagree with you, OP.
Oberto should start - he needs to start to be productive. KT should be Tim's backup, and maybe play a few more minutes beyond that, but that's it. Bonner should be the other big - he'll get his shot back, and his energy is important for such a slow old team.
JV is the same, but with being the primary backup to TP. Give him that job and forget MM - he was here to fill in for TP, end the experiment with him playing backup. JV did good things in the Finals last year, and he can step up again.
When Barry gets back, get him into the rotation, and maybe even starting ASAP. Bring Ime back in when you can.

he's a very solid defensive player but with him the spurs play 4 on 5 on offense. I'd rather have Manu playing as PG.

Manu is tired and beat up already, so loading him up with more minutes right now is not a great idea.
If he is healthy, and it's the playoffs, fine. However, as timvp says, "JV has mastered the art of not hurting the Spurs", so 10-15 minutes a game from him is fine IMHO.

Thing is, you can't just go with the rotation from the day the playoffs start, you have to do it now so that the players can settle into it. That's why I think Manu as PG can wait until the playoffs if necessary - until then, give JV the backup PG spot. He got us to a ring last year, he can hold his own this year. Whatever happens, St. has to sit though because he's killing the second unit.
