KState got a shitty seed, but I think they have the advantage over USC and will have a bad ass matchup with Wisconsin in the 2nd round.
UNC got a raw deal as the top #1 I think by having to take on Indiana in the 2nd round if Indiana gets by ARK.
I think Texas helped themselves by losing the Big XII title game. They get either St. Mary's who they already beat the shit out of or Miami, who really isn't that great in the front court. Then they go to Houston for home court and definite home court in San Antonio if they make the Final 4. Damn good draw devoid of bad ass front court competition if I remember correctly.
aTM a #3? Bit of a surprise there but a nice layout for them as well.

A&M is a #9 seed. Pretty much what I expected... I didn't think they could get into the top 7 seeds unless they beat Kansas.
Did Arizona State get a little jobbed? Maybe, but the committee always favors the Big East.

Being in Michigan, I'm loving that both Kansas and Kansas St. fell into the MidWest bracket!! Hopefully they both make it to the Sweet 16, so I can drive down to Detroit and watch them!!!

I'm sure a lot of you are watching the coverage, but for those who are not, here are some of the snubs that the ESPN panel have been discussing:
Arizona State
Virginia Tech
Ohio State
Dayton
Syracuse
A few of the questionable teams in the tourney include:
Baylor
Oregon
Southern Alabama
Villanova
Kentucky

I hate the automatic bid shit for the crappy conferences. I know you want to give #1 the easiest team, but UT Arlington in the tournament?

The tournament committee spoke loud and clear that they want beasley in the tourney past the first round by giving an 11 seed the best site possible.

I agree on Oregon and Baylor. Az State blew their biggest chances losing to Oregon in the final week of the season and losing to USC.
The entire ASU starting lineup will be back next year though and to go from 2 wins in the Pac-10 last year to 9-9 this year in a tough conference leads me to believe they'll be in next year.
This reminds me a lot of the 04-05 Aggie b-ball team because they had a weak non-conference schedule and a .500 Big 12 record, which probably just kept them out.

How the fuck does Texas get a number 2 and Wisconsin gets a 3 when we beat them IN Austin WITHOUT our starting PG???

Because the Big 12 is a lot tougher than the Big 10.

Baylor IS one of the top 64 teams in the country. They aren't a complete team and had a bad loss to Colorado in the first round of the Big 12 Tourney, but they deserve to be there.
And I've got a buddy who is a Purdue alum, so it looks like we'll have a nice little bet...

look around, they did that with quite a few teams.
a #1 seeded KU had to play #2 UCLA in Cali last year.
it happens all the time (or at least since the pod system).

texas won a better conference and did quite a bit more in their non-conference, even if the head-to-head favors wisky.

OK, so it didn't make sense to have put UCLA in the west bracket last year?

Which is why they couldnt beat an undermanned Wisconsin team in Texas. :rolleyes

And it doesn't make sense to have K-State in the midwest bracket this year? That's my point. I'm not arguing with you.

Pretty favorable match-up for the Cats IMHO. USC is very athletic (but so is KSU), but they aren't as disciplined as a lot of the teams that give KSU trouble.
With the game being played within 2.5 hrs of Manhattan, can't ask for much more if you're an 11 seed.

SC has a better supporting cast around Mayo than k-state has around beasley...and we are better defensively.
...i'll take SC 67-60.

possibly. although Walker is capable of being better than anybody else USC has. pullen has had some big games this year as well.
it's just a question of if they come to play or if they decide to lay yet another egg.

SC is a good team. not a great team. KSU has a higher ceiling, but is less consistent in reaching that top level as well.

I'm a Spartan fan so not complaining, but was surprised to see MSU as the 2nd highest Big Ten seed after finishing 4th in the conference. I know they destroyed Indiana last meeting, but they struggled on the road this year, don't think they'll do too well in the tourney.

I think both teams are very comperable. SC finished 4th in the 2nd or 3rd best league, KSU finished 3rd in the 2nd or 3rd best league, both lost a game they shouldn't have, both rely on a super frosh and if he isn't on the team isn't on. Both have very high SOS. Some of KSU's early losses that looked really bad ended up being all to tourney teams (Xavier, ND, Ore, Geo Mason). The biggest knock on KSU as far as seeding is that they were upset in their tourney and they have no road wins of note except an early Jan win in snorman. They lost every other B12 road game except CU and ISU. Most often road games were single digit losses. They played horrid late (3-6 last 9). SC conversely played well of late (6-2 last 8). Almost every loss was to a tourney team. Beat UCLA away while KSU beat KU at home. So, all in all pretty close.
On diff is, altho SC does have some nice road wins, they also got pasted on the road quite a few times (10 @ Cal, 11 @ Zona, 24 @ Wazzu, 11 @ AzSt).
It is the battle of the hype vs the hoopla. Mayo was the #1 freshman with tons of hype but beasley has garnered WAY more hoopla (and results).

actually, 1-5, i think USC is better. they just don't have an answer for Beasley or Walker (if he decides to show up). the Cats were as good as anybody in the country this season when both of those players played well - and that's not hyperbole. however, it wasn't often either (hence my 'ceiling' comment).

Walker is just a dumbass sometimes and will pull up for some long three when he is already 1-11 in the game. Beasley will get his numbers..around 25 and 13...the x-factor lies in Walker and im intrested to see how some of the wildcats freshman step up like Sutton, Young, ect.
