Has there ever been a team who ended the year as the League's best Defensive and Offensive team????

Not sure but it seems rather difficult. What makes the Spurs a great defensive team does work against any ambitions they might have to lead the league in offense (as measured by scoring avg).

They are, however, executing quite well for a Spurs team on offense as shown by their rankings in FG% and assists per game.

More stat fun

Spurs are 1st in
avg ejections per game

Spurs are 2nd in
avg total foul differential per game

Spurs are 3rd in
avg total fouls per game

Spurs are 7th in
avg turnovers per game
avg turnover differential per game

Some of those stats are obscure but they indicate that the Spurs focus on playing disciplined, smart basketball.

If not for a weak start on New Year's Eve they'd have an even gaudier avg ejection #.
