I was never good at FPS on keyboards, once you get used to consoles its essentially the same thing. I know PC gamers would deny this of course.

Once you reach level 56 you have the option to go "prestige" meaning all the perks and weapon powerups you have unlocked go back to zero and you have to start all over from level 0, however your symbol (aka prestige medal) changes. You will get a new one each time you do it. Once you hit level 10 prestige, then you are essentially done (until they release the new update from what I hear). Its totally by choice but then you also are frowned upon by the live community when someone hits level 56 and never prestige because essentially once you hit that level you should have most of your weapons powered up and all of your side perks unlocked. There are other elements and weapons you can unlock by powering up each class of weapons, ex leveling up all the assault rifles will give you the gold AK-47, all the shotguns give you the gold shotgun.

Best game on live or ps3 by far. I bought the PC version but never opened it cuz i played it too much on the 360 so i took it back. I gave my 360 to my lil bro's for xmas along with 20 games and i still have my ps3. Will probably buy a new 360 on the next price break which is soon and its coming with 60 gig hard drive instead of 20.

Does this apply to PC as well? I see folks running with gold AKs and never understood how one aquires them (I think the AK sucks ass, but I still wondered).

Not sure about PC but I would think its the same for all 3 (pc, xbox, ps3). I actually like the AK but it has a hell of kick. My fav set up is 3 frags, either the MP5 or P90 with a silencer on it UAV jammer, deep impact. That combo is great for small maps. I use that when I go into Ninja Mode and usually end up with 30 to 40 kills and less than 10 deaths.

Ive got a streak of 25, with 66 kills and 11 deaths.

Its usually a mixture of the P90/MP5 silenced, UAV JAMMER, 3 Frags, Martydom or M16 with Acog/ Claymore or 3 frags, Deep Impact, Stopping Power.

This all usually depends on the map. If its more wide open the M16 with the above perks is DEADLY. 1 3 shot burst and they are down.

Since we're on the subject of gaming...

I just got an Xbox 360 and bought NBA 2k, Halo 3, and Rainbow Six Las Vegas #1.

I've really never, ever been a huge fan of Halo's single palyer campaign. I payed it and couldn't get into it. Online will hopefully be better. 2k is great. RSLV is awesome and, IMO, better than Halo. I've yet to play it online but I can't imagine it not being better than Halo 3 online. I love the fact that you really have to stay focused and you can't just run up to people and shoot them. There's strategy involved and that's what really keeps it interesting for me.

A couple of games I really really want to get are Mass Effect (I absolutely loved the Star Wars RPG games for the original Xbox and I've heard that the their makers made Mass Effect) and Half Life. Oblivian, I've heard, is great and I probably will end up giving it a try soon, too. The longevity of it worries me a litle bit. The most amount of time I can stay occupied with one game is around the time it took me to beat both Stars Wars games on Xbox. They were the perfect length and they weren't linear, which made them feel more immersive.

What I didnt know was that if you play CoD on a console, the server max is 16 people.

Meaning, you only play 8v8 max.

Which explains the best scores you all posted. I didnt know the console server max until this past weekend.

Now, with that fact in mind, the scores you all posted are damn good indeed. There isnt one, at least in the sense if you have the pipeline and $$ to fund it.

For example, every server I play on is 25+ people. These are random, private clan servers funded by them, for them. They control the settings, the mode, the gametypes, map rotations, damage meters, etc. Ive played on a 65 person server as well, and have seen an 80+ (i think, in past games I played, anything over X number required the server to be unregulated, meaning, not sanctioned by the dev...there are no devs in the world who stress test their games with 80+ people limits in FPS games, unless thats their intended number (Battlefield, Joint Ops, etc)).

Now, all of that is moot if you want to be a Ranked server (which nearly all of them are). Then you have to be inside the general guidlines that Activision sets out.

But I have started my own server to screw around with my friends and figure out all the tricky little jumps that allow you to get to places you probably shouldnt be able to (the roof in Overgrown, on top of the Missles in another, etc).

I know my previous position in other threads concerning PC vs console are totally slanted and sometimes rude, but its situations like these that I seriously dont understand why people play games on consoles that are available for PC.

The speed, control, customization, competition and variety are friggin light years in distance between the two. But maybe thats the alure with consoles, its simple, static and standard.

To each his own, I guess.

Absolutely awesome game but they are some things I don't like:

1) It's bullshit when a dude goes through 3 frag nades and then has that one "extra" nade in his back pocket for martyrdom.

2) Noob tubes are fine, but able to put two on two assault rifles with overkill? BS.

2) Too easy to get a chopper; a well placed carpet bomb by airstrikes will yield a chopper too easily. It should be a lot harder to do airstrikes or none at all.

3) I hate Shipment. Bog sucks too.

4) Nade spam...but that's because of the players, not the game.

All in all, I think the guns are pretty balanced, sniping is much harder in this game than others. Can't wait for the new maps.

Agreed to an extent. Some clans are cool, some are not. Big revelation I know.

Took me awhile to find the "cool" clan servers. Public servers are spam fests and youre lucky to have half your team actually working toward the objective or even know what to do, or that the "F" key is the arm/disarm key.

Clan servers attract the best competition. Competition that works together, is skilled and knows what theyre doing. I have been on clan servers where its Us vs Them.....I quit immediately. I wouldnt if I had some of my peeps with me (me and some fools still roll together), but that usually isnt the case.

But it was once...that was fun kicking the shit out of the clan hosts on their own server. They were none too pleased.

As it were, I still havent found a server that disallows all airstrikes (UAV is fine). If I find that, Im in heaven.

rb6v2 is kind of laughable there is not one map or environment that even really offers a hint that you are in Vegas, you are playing in old warehouses and crap like that not even one map is in a Casino. They really justadded a few upgrades and made a new game to get a ton of cash when in reality it should be sold as an expansion pack.

Martyrdom is the worst part of the game. You sneak up on a some fool, knife him in the back and he's rewarded for getting killed. I hate it. Especially in Hardcore.

agreed... it's so bad, when i do knife someone, I immediately sprint away.. just out of habit.

the other bad thing about last stand is that it really sucks when you do all the work to finally "kill" the opponent, then he drops down, someone else shoots him, you get +2 for an assist, and the other fucker gets the kill.

It does. No one uses it. Most servers even disable it.

But then again, most servers have their own private voice comms they prefer you to use.

The standard of PC voice communication right now is Ventrillo and Teamspeak.

I personally prefer Ventrillo. I sadly and painstakingly remember the days of Roger Wilco. What a bum program.

I did it once just to see if I like it, and I probably won't do it again.

I'm pretty good at the game, and can finish normally 1st-3rd in a 12 player Hardcore match, but it does suck when you start from scratch.

I get upset if I don't have my P90 with 3 Frags and UAV Jammer.

Does it have the same mobility, though?

I like the P90 for a number of reasons, but the main one is how long you can run with it and the clip size.

I usually package the P90 (dot sight) with one of the LMGs. That way I can run around/away with ease while still being able to mow fools down through walls with the LMG.

Love LMGs. Just have to know how to use them. UAV + LMG + Building full of people = Airstrike/Helicopter in seconds.

3 nades are nice but I'm a claymore guy. There's definitely an art to it. I love it when I happen to get killed and the killer steps into my claymore right after.

Only problem with a silencer on a P90 is no range. I find myself using the AK-74u intead if I'm going to use a silencer.

It takes practice...a lot of it.

When I first started, I was killed 10 times for every kill I got.

Now it's pretty much 1:1 on average (and I still consider myself a level 55 n00b). Even when I haven't played for a few days, I get rusty and get my ass handed to me. It takes a few matches to get back into a rhythm.

I'm having this weird problem on Xbox live, when i play the game audio is gone, i can still hear the gunfire, but there is no overhead voice. Like when the enemies throw up a UAV, i can't hear that, or in domination i can't heat when we lose the flag.

i got the new maps over the weekend.. I like them .. and the double XP points weren't bad either. I went from level 41 to 54 fairly quickly.

I created a new class for Broadcast and Chinatown - and went with a G36 silenced. It seems to have a little more range than a P90. I'm not using overkill so that i can use stopping power. For me, it's the right combination. I can quickly move through the map and get my kills without showing up on the map when I fire.

I think it may have been mentioned before, but i absolutely hate that last stand and the matyrdom perks. (although i am guilty of using matyrdom) I would also make it a little harder to get a chopper. It seems like once you get an airstrike, it's almost an guaranteed chopper (2 more kills). I'd make those additional kills not derive from the airstrike.

And for every n00b that has a headset and doing nothing but broadcasting his own mouth-breathing, his TV noise, kids crying in the background, or other stupid and annoying noise, I'd like to be able to vote to boot them instead of having to go through and mute them manually.
