View Full Version : The Big Three only played 19:30!!!

Tim, Tony, and Manu only played 19 mins and 30 secs together tonight, if my math is correct.

To me this doesn't seem like enough time spent on the court together. I'm tired of seeing Manu out there alone with the likes of Fin, Ime, Thomas, and Vaughn!

Pop NEEDS to figure out the right combination/rotation of his roster. Hopfully Barry will really help.

I Second That. But Still We Should Of Pulled This Game Out.......

The whole point in the past has been specifically to play Manu when Tim and Tony sit down. Do you really want all three on the bench together?

Seems about normal.

No way, but maybe Pop can mess around with the rotation so they can have a little more time together. Like putting Manu in at the 8 min mark instead of the 6 in the 1st and 3rd quarters. That would only add 4 mins to his total mins played and maybe keep Tony in a min longer. It seems like it always only 2 or 3 possesions that hault the Spurs momentum so a few mins here and there will make a difference.

I think it would be a good idea to coordinate more time so that at least two of the big three can play at the same time...

Right now the competition is very tight...

Manu simply can not play that many minutes.

Well I think Manu uses up more energy trying to make something happen by himself when he is out there with 4 duds, than if he were to play a couple more mins.

I think Pop can try to play TP more with Manu...That way, you can sort of coordinate the timing...TP can play with TD at the beginning, when Manu comes in at the midpoint, TD can get his rest, then Manu/TP can play at the same time...etc...

It's just that if there is only Manu playing while TD/TP are on the bench, the opposing defense basically only focuses on him...they double team him...and they try to keep him from even getting the ball...

Yet, as can be seen in today's game, Manu still manages to get more than 30 pts off the bench.

So I have no idea as to what Pop can change...

Most of those pts are when either Tp, Tim, or both are in the game with him

Really? I thought the Spurs went on a run in today's game when both TP/TD were on the bench during the first half...I thought the second unit was rolling at that time...I know Ime was making his shots, Vaughn too, as well as Manu...

We did somehow manage a title or two with Manu coming off the bench.

No one said anything about Manu coming off the bench :sleep

Pop is still experimenting with the lineups. This wasn't a "Must win" game like so many people thought judging by the mass hysteria going on here. None of the big three played as many minutes as Pierce or KG. The Celtics played for the win. I believe Pop reigned the team in after the big first half lead. He knew they could match up with the C's, so why give away the game plan in the regular season?

Meaning that Manu spearheads the second unit. It's a little hard to have the three of them on the court together longer than that unless you want them to be playing major minutes.

Can somebody please tell me why it is so impossible to rotate the big 3, so that there are always two on the court together? It really isn't that difficult, it would still then allow them to close out the game together in the final 5min.

We don't have a deep bench of talent. We have role players. Role players that play well around stars like Manu, Tony and Duncan.

This just seems silly...if Pop is really looking that far ahead to the Finals that he would give up what is working to win this game in order to "not give anything away", than the Spurs need a new coach...

But wouldn't playing Manu and Tony together just end up making Manu a flower on the court? I mean, with the concept of agressiveness of parker, Manu can rarely touch the ball.

Get used to it, until Barry gets back last night's rotations are what you'r gonna see.

Ginobili as the main man, with some guys helping like Rob and KT will be fine.

And then Barry will need to hurry to find his game wind and rhythm.
