Game starts at 8:30 CST on TNT

This should be a very good game. I see it being another game like the Spurs played with the Celts last night. Ray Allen is officially out but the Celts looked pretty damn good last night after their horrendous start without him.

note...Boston is a league leading 13-2 on back to backs this year so if Houston wins I don't want to hear any excuses about Houston beating no one. That being said it is going to be a tough matchup for the Rockets with KG out there.

Doc Rivers also said he didn't believe in double teaming Duncan and look how that turned out. I wouldn't count on Ray Allen being out for this game either.

Celtics down Spurs, face streaking Rockets next
Allen won't play for Celtics vs. Rockets

SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Paul Pierce scored 22 points, Kevin Garnett added 21 and the Boston Celtics rallied to beat the San Antonio Spurs 93-91 on Monday night.

Rajon Rondo added 20 points for the Celtics, who were still without Ray Allen, who missed his second straight game with a jammed left ankle. Sam Cassell had 17 points. He gave Boston its first lead of the fourth quarter with 46 seconds left when he hit a 3-pointer to make it 89-87.

Manu Ginobili had 32 points to lead the Spurs, who lost their season-high fourth straight. Tony Parker added 17 points and Tim Duncan scored 10.

San Antonio trailed 93-89 after Eddie House hit two foul shots for Boston to make it a two-possession game with 9.6 seconds left. Parker then got an easy basket for San Antonio but it appeared too late for the Spurs. But with two seconds left Bruce Bowen stole the ball from Garnett on the inbounds play and passed to Robert Horry, whose 3-point attempt missed. Horry sank to the ground, his head in his hands.

The Spurs have now lost six games at home this season. Their last home loss was Jan. 26 against the New Orleans Hornets.

The Spurs led 70-68 after three quarters and extended the lead to 79-72 on Horry's 3-pointer with 8:04 to play. Duncan soon followed with a pair of highlight blocks against Pierce and House before Pierce led a 9-2 run by the Celtics to bring Boston to 83-81 with 3:11 left.

House's first points of the game - a 3 from the corner - made it 85-84 Spurs with less than two minutes to go.

Cassell then hit another 3 - this time from the top of the arc - to give Boston the lead. Rondo grabbed a key offensive rebound for the Celtics and hit two from the line with 16.6 seconds left to make it a two possession game.

The Spurs missed a chance at a 3-point play when Ginobili was fouled by Pierce but his layup rolled all the way around the rim before going out. Ginobili hit both from the line to bring the Spurs within two with 11 seconds to go.

After being dominated by the Spurs for the opening two quarters and trailing by 10 at the half, 53-43, the Celtics opened the third with a 17-4 run to take their first lead of the game, 56-55, off Pierce's easy fast break dunk with 8:24 on the clock.

Rondo had 12 points in the period - including eight straight - for Boston, but the Celtics couldn't build more than a three-point lead and were down two points with a quarter to play.

Ginobili, the Spurs' leading scorer, returned to the reserve role he's had most of the season after starting all but two games since Jan. 29.

Allen Out

Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen will not play when the Eastern Conference's top team faces the Rockets on Tuesday night at Toyota Center.

Allen injured his left heel in a game on Friday night.

Before Monday's announcement, the Celtics said on their Web site that the team is erring on the side of caution regarding Allen.

"We want to be 100 percent healthy going in to the playoffs," coach Doc Rivers told celtics.com.

On Tuesday, the Celtics play the second game of a rare Texas triangle schedule, having played in San Antonio on Monday and heading to Dallas on Thursday.

The Celtics were the first team this season to 50 wins, matching the 72-73 Celtics for the fastest in franchise history to 50, and reaching the milestone for the first time since 1991-92, Larry Bird's last season.

Allen discussed Tuesday's game with the Chronicle's Fran Blinebury on Monday.

."They (the Rockets) are feeling real good about themselves, so regardless of what happens (against the Spurs), we're going to that building and they'll be on a high,'' Allen said. "What they've done has been amazing. They're going to see us, with that group of guys together, for the first time. So we look forward to getting in that building and showing them how we can play."

Rockets Landry could come back Tuesday against Celtics

Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry experienced no difficulties with his sore right knee after Saturday's strenuous workout and tested his knee again Monday, with hopes he could be cleared to play Tuesday against the Boston Celtics.

Rockets trainer Keith Jones said Landry would run after Monday's practice, as he did Saturday, and then get checked out by team doctors at Tuesday's shootaround. Landry moved from a protective brace to a neoprene sleeve on the knee.

"It's definitely better today," Landry said after a pregame workout Sunday. "Better every day."

I think not. Scola won't have a field day against the Celitcs inside the way he did against the Ko-bees.

Here's hoping for a great game. :toast
