Those 'stimulus checks' of $600 per individual, $1200 per couple, and $300 for low income and retired individuals will start going out on May 2, but how can you tell when you will get yours?
1200 WOAI news reported today that the checks will go out based on the final two digits of the main taxpayer's Social Security number. So if you're married filing jointly, for example, if you put the spouse with the lower two digits in the position of the main taxpayer, you'll get your check faster.
The Internal Revenue Service says it will start direct depositing checks to taxpayers who’s Social Security numbers end with the digits 00 through 20 on May 2. Those who's numbers end in 21 through 75 will get their checks direct deposited starting May 9, and numbers 76 through 99 will get the checks deposited into their accounts the week of May 16.
For customers who require paper checks be mailed, usually people who pay taxes on April 15 and don't have a direct deposit number on file with the IRS, the wait will be longer. Checks will be mailed starting May 16 to taxpayers who's Social Security numbers end in 00 to 25. Those who's numbers end in 26 to 38 will be mailed their checks June 6. 39 through 51 will be mailed out June 13, numbers 52 to 63 will be mailed June 20, numbers 64 to 75 June 27, and 76 through 87 go out July 4. The last Americans to get their stimulus checks will be people who require paper checks and who's Social Security numbers end with 88 through 99. They won't get theirs in the mail until the week of July 11, the IRS said.
