You act like that required work or something... about 500,000 people have VIP passes. It means jack shit. (and I should know, I've had one the past 4-5 years)

What does a VIP pass mean? Is the video better quality?

SrA Husker
03-20-2008, 03:32 PM
No, it just means you get a better place in the waiting line to see the video, so you wait 20 seconds instead of 40 seconds.

Um, they finished 4th in the Big 12 which was the 2nd best conference in the nation this year and had big wins against A&M, Nortre Dame, Kansas St and Oklahoma, all tourney teams....so excuse me for giving them a shot against a so-so Purdue team that lost to Iowa St and Missouri for God's sake.

The Big Xll has the best team in the nation (Kansas) and one of the top 5 in the nation (Texas). Down a little further is the team spanking the Trojans.

PAC 10 is all UCLA.

Cant_Be_Faded
03-22-2008, 08:50 PM
if ut beats miami, we will probably lose to stanford, i admit. I don't think UT has the manpower, experience, and ability to counter a frontcourt with two seven footers that aren't stiffs, are good rebounding and scoring threats, and good defenders. We haven't seen anything like that all season, and it will shut us down, completely. Hopefully I am wrong.

Btw, go Aggies...

Herschel Walker
03-22-2008, 09:01 PM
I think Texas's guards will dominate Stanford's guards and Atchley/Pittman will hold their own. It all comes down to Abrams and Augustine shooting. If UT shoots consistently and their defense is active they will out gun Stanford without much of a problem. That's what it comes down to because Texas on all cylinders beats Stanford on all cylinders.

Cant_Be_Faded
03-22-2008, 09:19 PM
I dunno brah, those lopez brothers are pretty mobile.

A&M is having trouble passing the ball inside, even when the backups are guarding Jones.

Whisky Dog
03-22-2008, 09:26 PM
A&M doesn't have the firepower to match UCLA, but they are a bunch of tough and physical dudes and were able to muck it up enough in the 1st half to take a 3 pt lead. Can they do it for another 20?

Whisky Dog
03-22-2008, 09:29 PM
I wasn't impressed with Stanford's backcourt play in their first two games. The Lopez twins are impressive, but if Texas is able to run on them and if guys like Abrams is lighting it up from three I don't think Stanford has the firepower to keep up. The only team I've seen that can really go toe to toe and beat a Texas team who is firing on all cylinders is Kansas. Kansas are some bad mofos.

That said, if Texas gets cold from outside they could lose easily. That also goes for tomorrow against Miami. Texas has the talent and can pretty much beat anyone handily if they're knocking out shots.

CubanMustGo

I was pretty surprised to see the refs calling it both ways so far.

UCLA will tighten up their interior D ... TAMU's not hitting squat from the outside and if that doesn't change it will spell defeat for the Ags.

Really ? Every year they have a few with perfect brackets.

yeah, that's not correct.

the odds of a perfect bracket are 1 in 7.2 trillion.

nobody has EVER gotten a perfect bracket in ESPN's challenge.

The best in ESPN this year after the first round is 30-2, and only 51 people have that.

word
03-22-2008, 11:59 PM
Yeah I see that. Winning it all would be pretty bizarre. I know they've had quite a few people perfect out of 1st rounds before. I've never played them, just do it for fun, mainly between family. My luck this year is the upsets were either teams I had a reason to pick, ( family members that are alumnus like ...Siena..my nephews wife, or they were playing against teams I despise. WVA was my underdog pick not derived from any particular hatred. The thing we do, and this is not how other people do brackets...but in the fam we don't fill out the next round till after the previous round is played and then we score the rounds. We could never agree on how to score it so we ended up doing that. It's kinda fun that way so, yeah, start with a pefect round each time. Pure luck, I assure you.

K-State Spur
03-23-2008, 02:53 AM
Every year somebody will say that they saw a perfect bracket at ESPN, but that person just saw a person's name with a 100% by it, not realizing that the number meant that person finished in the 100th percentile, not 100% correct.

Aggie Hoopsfan
03-23-2008, 11:30 AM
Two years ago I actually had a perfect bracket after the first round on ESPN (was sitting in a 25 way tie for first place). Of course then I missed four S16 picks and plummeted....

I still finished that year in the top 10000 overall, which was pretty good I thought...

K-State Spur

Hey Mike, is coach Self going to be coaching his alma mater next year????

He has been given the offer. I found a GREAT article on rivals that dug up an old quote from him that said his dream would be to coach at OSU (this was like 18 years ago or the like). The article was written as if it were a back-to-the-future type thing, with him going forward in time to remind himself what his dream job was originally. I think it was even called 'Self-Addressed Letter'.

Anyhoos, the facts are the facts. Bill is an alum. He is one of the Top 150 donors yearly to OSU. He has immediate family that live in Stillwater. He is great friends with the AD. The offer is going to make him the highest paid coach in college basketball, plus 6 mil to go blow just because he signed his name. You will be taking over a program that, while not a top 5 or 6, is for sure a top 15 program historically, one of the best arenas historically, Has been to the Final Four twice in the past dozen years plus another couple Elite Eights, has had the #1 recruiting class recently and an amazing crop of talent returning. KU is gonig to lose 8 to 9 players off this team, which may or may not matter because most of them started as Frosh/Soph.

Bill was brought to KU to win a NC; mission accomplished. KU is going to win and recruit no matter who the coach is. This will be the ONE chance in his life to take the money and run, because at this point only the only jobs that would top KU would be UNC, Duke and UK (unless he goes NBA - how many college coaches are successful doing that?). KU cannot compete with OSU's money; OSU is not KU's tradition, however in reality not that far romoved.

The question is: does Bill take the money and go home or stay and try to build a 20-yearish program like Coach K?

I think he stays and regrets it the rest of his life.

Ooops. I just was told it was a done deal. 4 mil signing bonus; 3.5 mil per; 15 years; trust fund for his both his kids in Boone's hedge fund, no commissions; a brand new house built at Karsten for him (Karsten is the ritzy area next to the golf course); lifetime membership to Karsten Creek (the golf course).

He has agreed in principal but will wait a week or so to let KU enjoy the title. Unless the KU AD changes his mind.

Hahahah - I think he goes to OSU and regrets it for the rest of his life.

Top 15 all-time? I think top 25 all-time might be your best bet, Mike.

Don't ever count out City College of New York, which is the only school in history to win the NCAA Title and NIT Title in the same season... easily putting them at #1 all time.

Obviously I was joking about George Mason, which I'm sure you understood, but CaptMike doesn't know what sarcasm means.

I did forget Ohio State, which was my bad. I dropped Oregon because their fans lept from "rapid" to "disgraceful" with their treatment of Kevin Love this year (even Ernie Kent said so), which is why the job isn't as "appealing."

I didn't put Syracuse on there because they wouldn't have won 10 fucking games without Gerry McNamara in 2006.

You left off San Francisco, who had back-to-back titles in the fifties, ten years after Oklahoma A&M's pair of titles. By the way, here's the team picture of your '45 Aggies.

CaptMike flaunts two national titles from the 40s, yet rips on A&M for a 1939 football championship.

You're not getting Bruce Pearl or John Calipari.

This thread is identical to the thread Brutalis created last year re: Arkansas coacing search thread. This pretty much confirms that both Oklahoma State and Arkansas fans are in the same mold, except Fayetteville is a slightly better town with hotter girls.

"But at least it will be thorough." It has to be because everybody from Tony Bennett to Bill Self is going to turn you down until maybe Coach Fran says yes.

Sources: Ford likely to succeed Sutton at Oklahoma State

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services

Multiple sources have confirmed that barring unforeseen circumstances, Massachusetts coach Travis Ford is expected to be named the new head coach at Oklahoma State, ESPN's Doug Gottlieb reported.

Ford, who reached a new deal on a contract at UMass less than a week ago, planned to meet with the UMass team in Amherst on Wednesday, Gottlieb reported.

A week ago, at the Minutemen's end-of-season banquet, UMass athletic director John McCutcheon announced Ford, who had just turned down an offer from Providence, would be staying and had reached a new deal, but would not discuss its terms.

Ford led UMass to the NIT championship game this past season, where the team lost to Ohio State. He is 62-35 in three seasons at UMass.

Ford was also named as a candidate for the LSU opening, but he withdrew his name from consideration. The Tigers hired Trent Johnson on Friday.

Sean Sutton resigned from Oklahoma State after going 39-29 in two seasons. The Cowboys failed to reach the NCAA tournament in 2007 and 2008.
