View Full Version : Who Spurs ought to be concerned about

1) Themselves, beat the rest they need to beat including Houston badly, then it will all be alright and it probably will be. They then need to really focus on consecutive Fridays.
2) Dallas - these guys are playing great ball under the radar, are except for point better than past in some areas (and Terry is not doing bad) and Spurs need to spank them on Friday = don't be looking ahead to:
3) Suns - the 21st will come when it comes, then the Spurs just have to turn it up a notch bigtime again and beat em again (which I think they will, more worried about a loss to Dallas unless Spurs find game again real quick).
If Spurs do all three there will again be a much needed lower level of anxiety than posters on site showing (appropriately) over Spurs play last 3-4 games of late.
I for one hope it works out, for all the naysayers = this team even as currently constructed has the full potential to get on a serious roll again and shout out appropriately (in quiet Spurs fashion of course) they are still the definite favorites.

The Suns are definitely the biggest threat to the Spurs. I think Phoenix is going to give the Spurs an ass-whuppin on the 21st.

I think the Sonics are a big threat, because I still can't figure out how they're doing it, so I have no idea what the Spurs could do to stop them.

Dear Thong/Blazer Fan.
At least you are consistent in bashing the Spurs!!! Hard to figure that one out as the BadBoys have never EVER led against the Spurs in what is it 2 years = THE MOST INCREDIBLE RECORD IN THE NBA - it is like the Washington Generals (Blazers) vs. Harlem Globtrotters (Spurs)?
Spurs play well again = another serious thumping of Suns - Spurs only team in league that can make (with the possible exception of a motivated Detroit team) the Suns play "slower ball". Spurs bring it on defense with a decent offensive game = it won't be close again although Suns are certainly a talented team.
Dear
Extra Stout:
I have a healthy regard for Seattle and their two wins over Heat and Spurs = impressive. Maybe under the radar now but if hot shooting might give Spurs more trouble than Suns with no depth in series. Will be interesting to see last two contests (do they play 1 or 2x more some teams only meeting 3 times this year?)

I dont get how Seattle can be "under the radar" when they've got the 3rd best record in the NBA and whooped our asses twice. Quite frankly, I'm more scared of Seattle than anyone.

Seattle and Phoenix have played well. If they keep it up, they could be fully capable of beating the Spurs in the playoffs. That's a big if, though. My opinion? Phoenix is for real, but Seattle won't prove to be a good playoff team.
But it's still pretty early in the season anyway. We really don't know who will be playing well at the end of the year. Sacramento has talent and Mobley will make them even more offensively potent. Minnesota has struggles and Cassell and Sprewell continue to age, but they have a ton of talent and the league's MVP. Don't count them out yet. And in the east, Miami is playing well and the Pistons and Pacers have some impressive talent and experience.
Rummpd is correct that the Spurs should be concerned with Dallas and Phoenix in the short term, but the real threats to this team in the long term haven't been established yet.

Phoenix is for real and looked very damn good against the Heat last night.
If you were limited to five-man squads in the playoffs, they'd be the runaway (no pun intended) favorites.
The postseason questions about them, like everyone else has been saying, are 1) will their starters hold up? and 2) will their style work in a best 4-of-7 series?

Spurs obviously...
Is it just me, or are people all of a sudden interested in the Spurs and the Fans?
They are hating on us, since their team never has been mentioned as a contender...
atleast most of them, the laker idiots are there.
