McCain has fitteed the Iraq millstone around his neck. If Petraeus stops the pay-Sunnis-for-peace move, which is what really worked, not the surge, and US casualties go up, the economy shrinks as consumers close their wallets and struggle with huge household debt, then Iraq will kill McCain's chances in November.

Note how Americans are concerned about the milestone of 4000 US deaths, but almost no concern for 100s of 1000s of Iraqi deaths and 5 million Iraqi refugees.

you're doing a heckuva job dubya.

We're all so much safer after dubya regime-changed Iraq.

It will be one of the huge injustices in American history if dubya and dickhead aren't punished for their incompetence and crimes.

RECRUITING PROBLEMS: For Al Qaeda (http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htatrit/articles/20080323.aspx):

"The sharp drop in suicide bombings in Iraq is partly due to the decline in foreign al Qaeda volunteers coming into Iraq. The recruiting, mostly in Saudi Arabia and North Africa, preys on the unique social conditions in those areas. . . . The main reason for this is bad news, and some survivors, coming back from Iraq. Not many of these losers make it back, but the word gets on to the Internet, and this has caused quite a commotion on pro-terrorist web sites and message boards. There's also been a sharp drop in pro-terrorist combat videos coming out of Iraq. This is largely due to the death or capture of the people responsible for getting those videos onto the Internet. . . . For most of the last four years, the al Qaeda volunteers would go to Iraq and 'die a glorious death.' Now the trip tends to end in despair and humiliation. The word is getting around, and the recruiters don't like it."

U.S. military says hits al Qaeda propaganda units (http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-32630020080322?sp=true)

U.S. military spokesman Rear Admiral Greg Smith said that in the past year, 39 al Qaeda members in Iraq responsible for producing and disseminating videos and other material to thousands of Internet Web sites had been captured or killed.

"We think the vast majority of this media network has been degraded at this point," he said, adding that the arrests had led to fewer Internet postings of al Qaeda beheadings, kidnappings and other attacks in Iraq. ...

In February, U.S. intelligence monitoring of those Web sites showed 34 new postings of videos and audio material from Iraqi networks, down from 144 postings in June 2007, Smith said. "Those responsible for the more finished product, the stuff that really grabs the attention in mosques and elsewhere, we have those people on the run," he said.
The surge is working.
