IMO, the prettiest shot in basketball.

Post videos of the best fadeaway shots.

And who had the greatest fadeaway? I'd actually go with Kobe over Jordan on this one.

I know Wilt, Hakeem, & Malone all had great fadeaways but there's something about a smaller player like Kobe or Jordan shooting it that made the fadeaway just look awesome. Not sure what it is.

Not all fadeaways, but plenty of them throughout the clip:

Pretty ones at 1:37 and 1:53.

Jabbar's sky hook to me was the prettiest shot in basketball..

if you want to go ugliest fadeaways, Dirk has one of the worst. That little one-legged hop back thing he does just looks as ungraceful as humanly possible. But it's effective.

Couldn't find any youtube clips on it, but back in the day, Adrian Dantley had one of the more smoothest fadeaways in the game.

Here's a clip of Jordan teaching some fadeaway technique. LOL at him bricking nearly all his shots.

From what I saw in my days...Jordan, Kobe, a little Tmac. But MJ and KB made it an art form and a dangerous weapon.

Dirk uses a few different fadeaways, but his one-legged hop fadeaway is butt ugly. I love Dirk but the majority of his game is just not easy on the eyes (except for the ball going into the basket).

As much as I hate to admit it Karl Malone had one of the best fadeaways. Michael Jordan had the prettiest one though. Manu has one in his bag of tricks too. Its not that bad. Kobe has a nice one too. The Nigerian Nightmare had a nice one too. You couldn't defend that shot.

The thing I love about Kobe's fadeaway is the leg kick. Not sure why, but the leg kick makes it look way cooler.

Hakeem would catch it on the low block and just turn around and make it.

Also the way he pivots his feet to square his shoulders for the fade away is crazy.

Wilt was the one first ever known for that type of shot. Jordan perfected it and Kobe is close.

Michael Finely back in the day.
You can tell he studied Jordan big time when he was young.

Back in the day Finley could do it all. Drive & dunk, crossovers, pull up jumpers, catch-n-shoot, fadeaway.....he had it all. God that dude was such a bad ass.

Dirk's isn't pretty, but it's so interesting because A) It's usually effective and B) It's a 7-footer making them :wow

Hakeem was seven feet tall and had a very pretty fadeaway.

Definitely. And, it should come to no surprise. Finley's a Chicago kid and earlier in his NBA career, he trained with Jordan's trainer, Tim Grover.

I have a friend who played college basketball and trained at the same gym in the summertime (don't remember the name), and he told me Finley had one of the more insane workout schedules in the summer, starting from 6 in the morning to late in the evening... in the summertime. I assume that's pretty much the same with a lot of NBA players. But, still, it was good to hear about a pro athlete with a great work ethic as opposed to a lot of the negative new stories with young pro athletes these days.

Hakeem was 6-10, 6-11 at best.

MoSpur

I'm pretty sure he was 7ft, but it doesn't matter. He was one of the best at fading away and shooting.

JamStone
03-26-2008, 04:35 PM
Throughout his career, Hakeem was listed at different heights from 6-10 to 7-feet. I'm pretty sure he was closer to 6-10. But, does it really matter? He still played center and with his length and athleticism, he might as well have been 7 feet if not taller.

I see ugly fadeaways everyday. I work at a gym and it seems like almost every kid thinks he is a 3 point specialist who has to fadeaway and kick one leg foward(kobe style) on every shot...even when there's no defender in the vicinity. It's actually kinda funny to watch.

Even though he's not trying to fadeaway when he shoots because it's his natural form, LeBron has a beautiful fade.

Vince carter and penny hardaway had the prettiest. Their leg kick, hang time and fade were just insane. Better than Kobe's I think

If D Fish didn't make the 0.4 shot that would be one of the greatest plays in Playoff history.
