Another very good defensive player locked up. Tatupu being excellent, and his below market signing set up Trufant's new contract. Big props to the Seahawks Franchise for locking up their young stud defensive players. :clap :clap :clap

Frank Gore must be Joe Montana, Roger Craig, John Taylor, and Jerry Rice rolled into one.

What is the common factor between Montana, Craig, Taylor, and Rice?
They all have rings, while the Seahawks have never won shit.

Trufant > Newman
Seattle is doing a lot of the right things recently.
Trufant > Newman
Not sure about who is better. Newman tends to get underrated simply because he doesn't get a lot of int's but he can shut down.

There are only three "shut-down" corners in the league, that opponents simply do not want to throw at.
Champ Bailey.
Nnamdi Asomugha
Terrence Newman
The next closest, when at his best, is Pacman Jones. Then everyone else like Al Harris, Lito Sheppard, Asante Samuel, Trufant are all on a level below.

Newman is slightly better in coverage, and Trufant is drastically better in run support. Trufant gambles a little more and gets burned a little more, but I'll take Trufant over Newman because he's a more complete defensive player.

Now you're just hating.
Newman is far superior in coverage. And its not really a corner's job to be great at run support. His job is to cover the passing game first. Plus, you arent going to be able to focus much on the run when you have Roy Williams back there fucking things up in coverage. Newman is forced quite a bit more to be in coverage.

No he's not. He's better but not by much.
We're debating who's better between two guys who are top-5 corners in the league, nobody's hating.
I think Trufant is the better player because whatever little he lacks in coverage compared to Newman, he makes up for with superior run support.

But you don't really need CBs to be good run supporters. I'm much more interested in coverage out of a corner. You need your front 7 and SS to be the run stoppers. If they aren't stopping the run well, then your defense is already fucked.
And he is considerably better. QB's don't even want to throw to Terrence Newman's man. I've seen Trufant fuck some coverages up pretty bad quite often. I'll take Al Harris over Trufant too.

CB's being good at run support many times is the difference between a 4 yard gain and a 12 yard gain.

Trfuant is just a little bitch who thinks hes better than he really is. I cant wait until dallas plays seattle this year and T.O. runs his ass over and puts up the best game of the season with 200+ yds recieving and 4 td's.

I agree, but if your front 7 cannot consistently take care of the run, then your defense is already screwed as is. You shouldn't have to rely on your CB to take care of the run for you.

I dont know about that... while I don't think Newman is really all that bad at run support as Mono says, Trufant is pretty good at it.

I wouldn't consider Samuel because he is a zone player. Only man-to-man coverage guys who can shut their side down should be considered great and their aren't many of them. Champ and Nnamdi come to mind, Cromartie has a bright future.
