[prologue - In the earlier days of the NBA, there were fewer teams, so it was easier to win a championship then]

Let's take a quick look at the five NBA players to lead their teams to four or more NBA championships:

Jordan
Duncan
Magic
George Mikan
Russell

other info:

teams in NBA

1950 17
1952-1953 10
1954 9
1957-1961 8
1962-1966 9
1968 12
1969 14
1980 22
1982-1988 23
1991-1993 27
1996-2003 29
2005-2008 30

This means in Mikan's four NBA Titles, he beat 42 other teams [16+9+9+8=42]

Jordan beat 162 teams
Duncan beat 114 teams
Magic beat 109 teams
Russell beat 92 teams
Mikan beat 42 teams

Duncan passes Jordan with two more NBA Titles, doable.

So there you have it, Duncan is 2nd best of all-timessssssssssss!!!

I'm sure Duncan228 will weigh in on this.

You are persistent.

Your formulas don't seem to be convincing anyone of anything.

I'm one of the biggest Duncan fans but I still put him top ten, no higher.
I'll decide if I feel different when he's done playing. I think he's got a couple more rings in him, that could change where he lands.

For now I'm quite content to watch him play and enjoy witnessing one of the greatest players ever. I don't want to stress about his place in history. He's one of the greatest ever. That's enough for me.

no, this is important, new analysis, that you will not see in the biased, anti-Spurs, anti-Duncan mainstream media. I aim to break the conspiracy stanglehold of the MSM and reveal the truth.

Mr.Bottomtooth
03-30-2008, 05:51 PM
no, this is important
I highly doubt that.

Galileo
03-30-2008, 05:51 PM
Not really.

are you suggesting that winning an NBA title in the 1960s against only 7 other teams, is an impressive as beating 29 other teams this season?

Galileo
03-30-2008, 05:52 PM
I highly doubt that.

by what probability? Are you a Rockets fan? What do you have against Duncan?

That's what they first said about Albert Einstein's formulas. You will see in this season's postseason why Duncan > Jordan. The conditions for this to happen have all aligned.

I thought you were trying to show how Duncan is the best player in NBA history? Why is he behind Jordan?

A flaw within a flaw?

Nothing against Duncan. You should pay attention to what I quote.
Why are your formulas important? The last 83 haven't.

Duncan has been very lucky to have a great team/organization around him since the start of his career. That's waht has made him imo.

I think top 10 is really the place to be for Duncan as there is not really any consensus top 5. Most feel Jordan is the best ever and the other 4 spots people will argue about like crazy. For example some people have Magic, Bird in there others don't and have Wilt and Russell in there. So lets just leave the top 5 alone and say Timmy is top 10 and call it a day. Even if he wins 2 more rings he is never going to be on everyones top 5.

no way can he be considered the best PF, because he isn't really a PF.

If Duncan keeps it up I think he's better than Mikan. Not Magic and never Bill Russel.

If the NBA kept blocking statistics when Bill Russel played he would probably average a triple-double.

Yeah playing against 6'5 white guys your whole career will do that and yes Duncan is better than Russell. His era is ten times tougher.
