They are still out...And there has not been much news of them coming back. Plus the Lakers only have 9 more games until the playoffs start. This could be bad for them because it is not just about coming back. It's about being in shape and being at the top of your game come playoff time. If they don't come back soon I think it will be very tough for the Lakers.

You're right and I'm pretty worried we won't have enough time to get everyone healthy and playing their best basketball. Talent wise, we have the deepest team in the WC when everyone is healthy so hopefully we can get an easier 1st round opponent to build some sort of chemistry and confidence.

Gasol's ankle is still swollen and he probably won't play tonight. Likely return date is Wed., especially if the Lakers lose another game. Phil Jackson told Bynum to expect to join the team next Sunday. Apparently his rehab is going very well, there is a video of him rehabbing on the Lakers website. if you are interested.

Okay. Well at least you found some news on them. I have not heard about there progress in months.

A week ago I would bet on the West being won by the Spurs or Lakers. I think Phoenix is taking some steps forward, while the Lakers are taking some steps back though.

Nothing is sure in the West this year though. Too many good team=greater chances at an "upset".

I think the talent issue is arguable. The argument that Kobe doesn't make his teammates better is crap. Even if he doesn't pass the ball his presence helps take pressure off of his teammates.

As for the playoffs. I think every opponent is bound to give each other problems. The West is strong 1-9.

I agree the Lakers have regressed as of late, which worries me about our chances in the post season. We not only need Gasol and Bynum back, we need them back healthy. That's why I think both of them are being hold out longer than expected.

If Kobe stays sane, the Lakers will likely enter next year as the favorites to win the West. Hopefully they don't break through that door a year early.

Lakers up by 4 in OT with 10 seconds left, that should pretty much be it.

Chris Mihm is back, Wednesday Pau's back. Bynum sometime next week/early following week.

April date vs Spurs should be awesome...possibly #1 seed on the line.

Good win by the Lakers. They showed poise at the end.

I hope Kobe realizes that balanced scoring will win more games. Actually, I take that back. Hog the ball, Kobe!

We escaped tonight, great overtime execution to save our asses though. I'm not gonna be negative about the Lakers, we needed this win in the worst way. Don't care how we got it to be honest.

I know. I tried to jinx the game in the Wizard's favor, Wizard's stupidity over came it. :lol

After laying two eggs against the scrubs of the scrubs, the Lakers needed this win and almost threw it away.

I'm sure the Suns and their fans were watching tonight's game and cheering on the Wiz.

A loss tonight would have been disastrous. Whew!

I tell you what... I feel bad for the Lakers every time I see Mbenga manning the center position out there. Is Mihm really worse than that guy? They were even cracking up in the Lakers bench when he banked in a shot. What's scary is that if Gasol and/or Turiaf get in foul trouble in the playoffs, that's the guy they're going to have to play. And it's not going to be funny then.

I thought he would be back 'early March'... That's what they said when he got injured. Playoffs start in 20 days and he's nowhere to be found. He hasn't played in 3 months. You can't just throw him out there. It's going to take time for him to get back in game shape, and make sure he's not tentative with that knee. Sorry, but I don't see him having any meaningful minutes at least in the first round.

Man, this has been refuted a million times but the Lakers never said he'd be back early March. They said the minimum return date would be 8 weeks but that it would most likely take longer. Knee injuries aren't really an exact science as far as rehab goes, everyone is different.

I agree Bynum will be rusty, but if he can get 3-4 games in before the playoffs start that should be enough to warrant him starting over DJ MBenga. In fact I'd be very surprised if MBenga got any minutes during the playoffs, especially with Chris Mihm back on the court.

I thought they said here (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/basketball/nba/03/19/lakers.bynum.ap/index.html) he won't be back until the playoffs?

Its obvious things changed - and Phil clarirfied his comments the next day saying he didn't want the team or media to act as if Bynum was going to carry them to the playoffs.

From Sunday's Times

Pau Gasol participated in a brief scrimmage and Andrew Bynum was told by Coach Phil Jackson he would accompany the team on a two-game trip next week, though he wouldn't necessarily play.

Bynum was doing "really well" in his recovery after working his way through some patellar tendinitis in his injured left knee, Jackson said.

"It's not really connected to his injury per se. It was just the amount of work that he's started to be able to do, which is impressive," Jackson said. "I told him to expect to go on the trip to Sacramento [next Sunday] and Portland [on April 8]. Whether he can play or not, it may not be that time, but he's going to go through the workouts and practices and the pregame and whatever we have."

The Lakers have four regular-season games left after that trip.

That would assume that Oberto had done anything wrong the first time.

Wrong? Nah, nothing really wrong.

Fabio pushed him in the back on a play, got Bynum's panties in a bundle and he got his first ejection ever. I think Bynum will remember Fabio and try to dominate Spur games for the rest of his career. Kind of like Scola vs Spurs, Agent 0 trying to score on the coaches that didn't want him on the Olympic team or Al Thorton paying back the teams that passed over him in the draft.
