Mavs win.

If Dirk plays, he's only in for about 12 minutes total. Of course I could be wrong. The team is hiding any Dirk information like it's the cure for cancer.

Fuck Golden Fucking State right in the fucking neck fuck.

I can't see any way the mavs lose. Everyone expects them to; everyone has written them off; they have one thing left in the world to play for; they are mad because they can't ever beat GS. The only prob for them is if it becomes a total shootout and they are without nowinski. Without him they don't have the power to keep up. I see a big mavs win.

it's funny that everyone wrote The Mavs off for the playoffs but yet they are still the 7th seed and Dirk is back........

I know they have some tough games coming up but i could see them beating the Warriors and then getting their act together for the last handful of games

Warriors and Nuggets are the ones in trouble.

They're like, what, half a game up on the Nuggs? And we don't know for sure that Dirk is back yet. He might not get his customary 35+ mpg.

Warriors and Nuggets are the ones in trouble

As are the Mavs. And it will be fatal for one of them.

NuGGeTs-FaN

oh, i thought he was definately coming back.

Even just having Dirk on the court will make a difference. The thing is that Kidd and Josh Howard still need to mesh. It seemed like Howard was ineffective before Dirk was injured.

With Dirk/Howard/Terry , Kidd should be getting 20 dimes a game :lol

Where's Kevin Love being projected at these days? Fuck it, I'd rather get into the DeAndre Jordan picture.

Hansbrough is a second round talent but we should go ahead and take him at 14 cuz you never know if someone else will take him.

Findog
04-02-2008, 02:19 PM
If we could somehow gut this one out w/o Dirk and Stack, it would really go a long way towards clinching a playoff spot. We'd essentially be 3 up on GS in the loss column with the tiebreaker, and we probably wouldn't win those roadies against LA and PHX anyway with those guys.

This one is pivotal, shorthanded or not. We could really use a Bennett Salvatore home-cooked meal...

Bruno
04-02-2008, 02:39 PM
A win for Dallas will give them a 2 games lead with the tie breaker on GS. It would be a great step to the playoffs.
If Dirk is out and without Stackhouse, Mavs will lack of offensive firepower and the win won't be easy at all to get.
GS are on a b2b but Nelson has given quickly yesterday against Spurs. Warriors shouldn't be too tired tonight.

Dampier won't play because Avery is an idiot. Go look at the box for Sunday's game. Dampier had a +/- of + 10. The Warriors shot 28% from the floor in the 12 minutes he played. And he picked up zero fouls. Now, I'm not saying GS would've shot that poorly the entire time Dampier was in there, but it's nice to a have a big in there that can body up Biedrins, rebound and contest shots at the rim.

Now of course Damp is obscenely overcompensated for his 7/7 per game, but he's been even more effective with Kidd. He bitchslapped Pau when we played the Lakers.

I guess at the least, Dirk provides a good boost to the team morale.

Unless Dirk is 90-100% I can't imagine why Dallas is gunning for the 8th seed.

What better way to right your wrongs than to go into this year as an 8th seat and knock out the 1st seat. It's the only way!

Have Dirk flop during a "big" game allowing his teammates to step up in his absence. Then, let Dirk come in at the end of the reg season to save the day and charge into the playoffs.

Dirk's comments today indicated he's not anywhere near being able to play, so I don't think you have anything to worry about. CIAJ.

The Spurs still can't guard Dirk. Stackhouse, Terry and George always play their best against the Spurs. AJ knows the Spurs playbooks inside and out ... hell, he wrote most of them.

While the Spurs now have to be favored post-Jason Kidd trade, that'd still be a horrible first round pull for the Spurs.

LAL has played terrible lately, and I will be willing to bet you my sig. for a month that if the Spurs meet the Lakers, the Spurs will win that series.

I don't know about the Spurs winning it all (Boston looks scary, not gonna lie) but I really think the Lakers lack the defensive discipline to come out of the west. The current Laker squad minus Bynum has no chance against the Spurs. Spurs in 5 or 6, easily.

BUT, if Bynum gets back with 3-4 games left in the regular season and the Lakers can avoid the Spurs until the WCF it COMPLETELY changes the game. He plugs up so many holes the Lakers have right now, defense+rebounding are drastically improved with him on the floor. Just like how the Laker offense improves with Pau's presence.

Houston. Houston. Houston. I'll take them in a 2 vs 7 matchup. It's still not assured that we're getting in. GS should finish 5-2, which means we gotta win three more games. We have two against the Sonics, the Jazz are a shitty road team, and we should be able to get the roadie against the Blazers. We play the Hornets in the season finale and they might have clinched their seed and have nothing to play for. We need to realistically win 3 more to get in.

Are you guys really that afraid of drawing us in a 1/8 matchup, or is it just schadenfreude at us possibly winding up in the lottery?

It's not fear, I like the Warriors, I like Baron Davis, thus I will cheer for them over long time nemesis, Mavs. I hope the Mavs make the playoffs and eventually meet the Spurs for a re-match, would be another epic series.

The consensus right now is that the Kidd trade was a disaster. I think it can still pan out, and it will probably pay more dividends next year. I understand now why the inverse is true - our offense has actually been worse with Kidd, when the conventional wiz had him getting us easier shots, while our defense is better, when the cw said we'd miss Devin's ability to stay with the quicker guards.

Kidd is not washed up. He's going to have trouble keeping CP3 and Deron in front of him, but who doesn't? He does a good job of defending the bigger guards, and he creates turnovers by playing the passing lanes and getting steals. We are certainly different now, but we're better defensively. On offense, it's a bit different story. effective FG% is up, but we're scoring less because we're more turnover-prone. That is due to botched fast breaks from running more with Kidd, and guys not handling his passes.

This thing still has a chance to work, but it's probably going to be next year. It may not result in a title, in fact it probably won't, but Dallas is going to be better next year bc of this trade than if they had kept Devin. That much is clear to me. Phoenix has adjusted to Shaq and incorporated him in, and we'll eventually get there with Kidd.

Not eventually...I think first round, Spur/Mavs 2-7 matchup.

Warriors just threw their Playoff hopes into the toilet tonight.

And I also think the bottom 3 seeds are set. 6-Rockets, 7-Mavs, 8-Nuggets. Jazz firmly stuck at 4. Spurs will stay at #2.

Lakers/Hornets/Suns wlll still move around.

Number 6 might swap between Houston and

I can't see any way the mavs lose. Everyone expects them to; everyone has written them off; they have one thing left in the world to play for; they are mad because they can't ever beat GS.

I see a big mavs win.

Truth.

Is the finale going to be Return of the Kidd, or Return of the Strip Club Shootout?

My vote is for Return of the Krauthead, with Nellie being thrown down an elevator shaft.

"I'm very upset," Golden State coach Don Nelson said after the game. "Avery Johnson had inside information. He used to play for Golden State, and he knew too much about what we were going to do."
Ah, gotta love that Nellie sense of humor.
