K-Mart gets one-game suspension
NEW YORK (AP) -- Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin was suspended for one game without pay Thursday for exceeding the flagrant foul points total with five.
Martin was assessed a flagrant foul/penalty one for striking Phoenix's Boris Diaw in the face Tuesday night in Denver's win over the Suns.
Martin now faces one-game suspensions for each additional flagrant foul.

more stern bullcrap.......
go look at the play. If the Suns weren't flopping little pansies then it wouldn't look so bad. Shaq elbows Diawara in the face and knocks back two of this teeth but not even a foul is called coz Diawara took it like a man and not a sun.
Moral of the story = flop more and things will be in your favour

I was wondering where you were NuGGeTs-FaN.
I haven't seen the play, I'll go look for it.
My concern was the one game suspension for any flagrant here on out. Does that carry into the Playoffs?

Did Kmart flex his muscles and shouted some obscenities while pounding his chest after he got called for the flagrant?
What a punk...

no, everything resets.
i think diaw even got called for a foul on that one.
as for the diawara foul, shaq didn't even know he was there, he put his arm back, it stopped, and diawara ran right into it.

i guess its something that just needs to be called fairly and not based on reputation. Everyone knows Kmart doesn't have good rep in the league and im sure that played a part in it, but gee don't continuely buy flops! So much for a crackdown on the plays.

Thanks for the answer.
I knew the Tech's did (Kobe's issue) but I wasn't sure about the flagrants.

im glad it resets coz i wasn't sure. It would suck if it didnt coz we all know the playoffs are more physical and some refs may be inclined to call a flagrant more often to try and calm the game down.

Wasn't he penalized and/or under some serious scrutiny for committing flagrants like crazy a while back?
If he was, and he's built a reputation for being real dirty, I don't blame the refs for calling it they they did. He's impulsive and a punk and everytime I watch him play I get this ominous feeling that he's going to hurt someone bad.
It's guy's like him a worry about when Manu/Tony drive to the hole, because he's got no qualms about knocking them on their ass and hurting them real bad.
Fuck Kenyon. He's a prick.
He left a bad taste in mouth after he slapped away Duncan's hand when he tried to help him up in the 2003 finals.

Since Kenyon Martin commits flagrant fouls AND flops I'm not sure how he has any defense.

I really want to see Golden State miss the playoffs. Hopefully the Nuggets don't fall out instead. :(

I really want the Nuggets to miss the playoffs. I can't stand JR Smith and KMart.

im glad GK ripped the NBA about this and expressed his frustrations to Stu Jackson. Maybe the Nuggets need to get a team of quiet white guys who dont make any noise and then Stern/Jackson will show them respect
The NBA officiating is a joke. I love the NBA but i cant stand teams getting jibbed and it happens so often.

Since GK bitches about almost everything and always has someone to blame, I'm not sure how anyone would be surprised that he'd fail to be silent about yet anouther issue. Maybe the Nuggets need to get a team of men that either don't violate the rules or will take responsibility for their actions when they do.

Yeah, I was so embarassed for the Spurs when Pop came out and said how unfair it was that the league was picking on Bowen.
Oh wait, that didn't happen. Bowen served his suspension without a word, even though there's not much evidence that he did anything worse than respond to someone who may or may not have been punching him in the balls.

Gotta thank Nash for doing that, though...it helped the Spurs...actually, that was probably the key play of the entire playoffs for the Spurs. Thanks, Steve!!! :toast

Actually, it was a smart play on his part. By rule it probably shouldn't even have been a foul since he tried to squeeze between the defending player and the sideline, but since he sold it as a flagrant, it sealed the game for the Suns. If he'd had smarter teammates they'd have had a little more chance to try to push it to seven games.
