This game scares me. The worst part of Friday night's Mavs-Lakers game was not the fact that the Lakers remained a game ahead of us in the standings. It's that the Mavs are going to be desperate tomorrow. Not only that, but it's an early day game, and the more desparate team will be able to overcome the challenge of the early start time more easily.

We'll need to play with some "desperation" of our own. Also, we will need to be smart and pound it in to both Shaq and Amare all day long, and drive the ball to the hoop (especially when Dampier is out). If we keep doing that against the Mavs' weak interior defense, then we might be able to get a few good looks from outside also. Other keys will be turnovers (we've got to fix this new problem of turning the ball over), and dominating the boards (or at least having the edge). If we do all of that, along with playing decent defense, then perhaps we'll be able to negate the "desperation" advantage of the Mavs.

Go Suns!

Don't worry about the mavs. They are a team full of chokers and you guys have the most dominant player in the nba in Shaq. We have Ericka Dampier. I predict a blowout in your favor, suns by 40!

Indazone
04-06-2008, 12:11 AM
haha this thread is funny when most Mav's fans are predicting a blowout loss. Put another L in the loss column. This ain't gonna be pretty. Shaq tears Dampier apart. Mav's have no answer for Stoudamire. Nash is still better than Kidd. Barbosa is too fast and the rest of the Suns will just light it up from all over the court. Dirk would have to score 50 pts just for the Mavs to stay with the Suns.

Nash, Amare have a field day against the Mavs. Snaq vs. Erica. Hobbled Dirk will give up as many points as he will score.

I see the Suns winning by 10+.

Dirk is on a mission + midday game + Mavs fighting for their lives. Mavs by 5
that's probably the closest to how i feel about it.

especially that 2nd thing. midday games are just hell for the suns.

suns SHOULD pull it out, but it'll be close.

if avery ever figures out how to run an offense with a good point guard, the mavs could be dangerous.

The thought of what Amare is going to do to Dirk on one leg scares the hell out of me. They should switch it up and have him cover Shaq and Damp cover Amare. Not that that will be some magical elixir, but Amare is a dominant beast on one end of the court, and he's going up against a guy on one bad wheel.

Amare goes for 40+. That's my prediction.

WOW, I think Dirk is the star of the off-balance shot.

Mavs are dominating this quarter, they definitely deserve the win--and I was rooting for the Suns!

Nash is our late-game clutch shooter, so he's not taking shots away from anyone else. He's the most accurate shooter in the league, and he usually hits these big shots. Tonight they just aren't falling for him for whatever reason.

It's unusual, because he usually plays extremely well against Dallas.

It's unusual, because he usually plays extremely well against Dallas.

Does he usually play well against Dallas with Jason Kidd guarding him? :lol

Kidd destroyed Nash's offense today. Expect more of the same should we meet in the playoffs.

Harris was a good defender, but his style didn't match well against Nash's. Nash's game isn't predicated on speed or athleticism, but outstanding b-ball smarts. Kidd is every bit as good in that department, thus the days of Nash consistently dropping 30+ on the Mavs are likely over.

NO NO NO NO NO NO Harris is a defensive juggernaut and Kidd sucks, that's what everybody says, that's how it is!

While I never went anywhere near this far, I know some probably did. Silly. I was, however, on the same side as these posters, as I did believe that Harris was the better defender vs. Nash. I'd seen Nash consistantly torch Kidd the past two years. Kidd played Nash much better today than I've ever seen him. Maybe he's regained a step? Maybe Nash has lost a step? Maybe both? Point is, and I'm devastated to say it, I was wrong - at least for today.

Terrible way to close out a home game, Phoenix. Credit to Dallas. They chipped away every time Phoenix pushed the lead to double-digits in the third period. Phoenix could never gain that comfortable margin.

Congrats. Wasn't this Dallas' first win vs. a Western Conference playoff team with Kidd? I know they beat Golden State on Thursday, but the Warriors weren't a playoff team at the time, so I believe this is what I've said.

That makes this loss sting even worse. First Kidd plays great, then the Mavs rub said fact in Suns/Suns fans faces in Phoenix.

This one hurts. I said I thought we very well might lose this game, but the way it happened really hurts.

The Mavs FINALLY got that desperation in them in the 4th quarter, and we did not come close to matching it AT ALL.

Every time I felt that we could break them, we gave up an offensive rebound or something. Then we were not aggressive at all and did not try to drive it to the hoop or pound it down low in the 4th when we desperately needed points.

Very frustrating loss. Stunning, complete turnaround. It's still hard for it to sink in. I don't remember such a total collapse by the Suns ever before.
