Volquez was awesome today against a very very very good Phillies lineup. 5.1 innings, 8 ks, 1 run, 5 hits. His fastball was a jumpy 95 - 97, his change up was nasty at 82 mph, and his slider was sorta working. If he gets his slider over consistently he's a true #1 pitcher. That fastball was jumping across the plate. He's absolutely filthy.
Him and Cueto have me so freaking excited for the future. Throw in Harang, Arroyo and hopefully Homer Bailey down the line and the Reds have a very good rotation for the first time in a couple decades.
