What do you think?

McCain Speaker "Have your Tiger Woods, we have John McCain". (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/08/mccain-speaker-have-your_n_95665.html)

Now I have no doubts about Senator John McCain's values and views but this guy, IMO, got a little carried away and just had to throw, and I know many of you will disagree, a racial tone to his introduction.

What say you? And yeah, like Bill says, let the spin stop here.

As soon as I heard it I said, "What the....", but maybe I'm over reacting just like I sometimes think people do. But I did get a "Oh no you didn't" look on my face. Hey, I'm telling it like it was for me.

Tiger Woods is a winner. I'd take that comparison any day. (btw, that youtube clip is messed up, the audio isn't synced to the video)

"He's doing quite well...pretty impressive...little boy's campaigning well, speaking well...he's doing what it takes to win. So you know what you guys do when he's innaugurated? You pat him on the back, say "congratulations, enjoy it!" and tell him not to serve fried chicken at the innaugural ball...or collard greens, or whatever the hell they serve..." - "Fuzzy"

it was just a natural reflex coming a conservative white man. that's how they were raised. you can't expect these people to "rise above their raising".

Here's what I think. I think I wish some of you had grown up in the 50s and 60s, so you would really know what the fuck you are talking about when you bring up the word "racial".

Mentioning Tiger Woods equates to "being racial"? How fucking stupid. Have we really gotten that PC? I hope not.

Boy SAG, isn't it the truth. Wished some of them could
have seen what "racial" really means. It just wasn't that
long ago that we had the "colored only" signs every
where on everything. We have come a long way baby.
PC will be the ruination of what progress we have made.
A little thing called backlash.

Maybe he just meant that Obama is the greatest politician of his generation and perhaps all-time?

Hmmm... I'm guessing probably not...

My first thought was that the speaker was referring to a war hero vs. sports hero analogy. Race was not the thing that jumped out at me but rather someone who has fought in war is more deserving of being considered a role model than someone who plays a sport for a living. Who knows.

You guys need to wake up. It was obviously a racist analogy referencing a black man trying to succeed in a white man's world. Why the hell else would he have used Tiger Woods? The analogy makes no sense when you just assume he meant to use Tiger as a good athlete.

...closet bigots continue to bury themselves....

U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis, a Hebron Republican, compared Obama and his message for change similar to a "snake oil salesman" . He said in his remarks at the GOP dinner that he also recently participated in a "highly classified, national security simulation" with Obama. "I'm going to tell you something: That boy's finger does not need to be on the button,"Davis said. "He could not make a decision in that simulation that related to a nuclear threat to this country."

It had racial overtones. More than likely he's lived a life with little more than superficial contact with Black Americans.
