Was it a simple contusion? Or something more serious?

Any news?

Some news from Johnny Ludden (http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/basketball/nba/spurs/stories/MYSA011605.1C.BKNspurs.rockets.gamer.113481ca.html )

The Spurs also lost more than a game, playing almost all of the second half without Manu Ginobili after he suffered a right quadriceps contusion. Adding insult to injury, Ginobili had to watch his teammates shoot.

"I might have watched 'Desperate Housewives,'" Spurs guard Brent Barry said, "instead of this game." http://www.spurstalk.com/forums/images/smilies/smilol.gif

It didn't help that Ginobili collided with one of Yao Ming's sequoia-sized legs less than a minute into the second half. He immediately grabbed his right thigh, but he still scrambled to his feet, limped downcourt, made a steal and threw the ball ahead to Bruce Bowen, starting a fast break that ended with a layup by Tony Parker.

Ginobili went to the bench and never returned. After the game, he said he felt all right, but Popovich showed more concern.

"He's a pretty tough kid," Popovich said. "He wouldn't have come out if he didn't need to. I'm real worried about that."

If he was still able to play it probably isn't a big deal. Besides, in the NBA, the only thing you really need to worry about are your knees and occasionally an ankle. It was his quad, no big deal.

If all he was going to do was drive into the teeth of the Rocket defense and hope for a foul, he didn't need to come back.

That's one of the problems in doing a 360 move in the lane. If help D is there, you can have a collision.

We'll just have to see how Manu responds to Physical Therapy and rest.

here is barry's chance to step up in a big game...the wizards are a good young, up and coming team. He is the Spurs chance to end the road losing streak currently at 3.

Well, hopefully Barry will help the Spurs end their road losing streak, but FYI, in case you are tying the two things together... the Wizards play the Spurs in San Antonio.

I heard Pop say that he would be surprised if Manu played and that depending on how he is he may miss one up to a couple of games.

Manu said he was just sore....would that stop him from playing?

You never know, he might surprise us...I don't think it's nice to watch the team from the sidelines like he did (and we all did). He probably notices how bad the team is doing and will step it up...that is if he plays.

Well no sense in wasting him and making the injury worse, we have the depth for him to miss a couple of games. Brown and Barry should do just fine.
