It must be a mental thing now. Shaq is 36 years old and a shadow of his old athletic self. Duncan turned into a giant whale vagina during crunchtime missing point blank gimmes and Shaq absolutely dominated him on offense. The Spurs better hope they don't pull the Suns in the 1st round, Shaq is Duncan's kryptonite.

It was just a game. You must have missed the ones where Duncan was schooling Shaq while he was in Miami. Plus they rarely guard eachother, not to mention we will be doubling in the playoffs. You don't show your best cards 2 weeks before the playoffs start...

Great thing about stats is that they can be manipulated or carefully selected to make a point.

Shaq 24 minutes, 7-9 FG
Tim 35 minutes, 9-21 FG

fourth quarter:

Shaq 3-3 FG, 7 pts, 4 rbds
Tim 1-5 FG, 2 pts, 2 rbds

This is why I hate talking to idiots who just read the boxscore and think they know everything about the game. Anyone who watched that 4th quarter could easily see Duncan got rattled and started bricking gimmes he usually makes. Shaq OTOH turned into an absolute beast on both ends of the floor and helped spark the run that won them the game.

So reminiscent of the 2002 playoff series when the only time Shaq would guard Timmy would be in the 4th and he just shut him down everytime in the clutch and helped LA close out SA late in everygame.

The biggest factor in the 2002 series was Shaq's D on Tim Duncan in the 4th Q's of each game.

Shaq has consistently got the better of Duncan over his career...

But oh how sweet it was to make the Lakers cry in 2003. Timmy absolutely owned Shaq in that series.

How bout when Timmy hung 37-16 on Shaq in the elimination game of the 04 series?

What about when Tim outplayed Shaq and they swept them Lakers in Timmys second season?

Shaq's 2-0 against the Spurs as a Sun. It looked pretty convincing to me. You can blame Timmy's teammates for standing around and watching him, but Shaq did what he was supposed to do.

I also noticed that Tim was a lot more timid when Shaq was guarding him.

And like Jamstone pointed out, stats can be manipulated but they don't always tell the full story. It is harder to get points off single coverage than by getting set up for a dunk by Nash.

Here is a stat that is a great one.

Spurs 81 Pistons 74 2005 NBA Finals Game 7.

You guys are looking at it all wrong. If it was only Shaq vs Duncan and the Suns didn't have Stoudamire, the stats would have been a lot closer because the Suns would have punched the ball to Shaq a lot more. So here's what you gotta do. Frontline of the Suns vs Frontline of the Spurs

Suns Frontline Shaq, Hill and Stoudamire combined for:

45 pts 18 rebounds

Spurs Frontline of Duncan Oberto and Bowen combined for:

33 pts 19 rebounds

Rebounds were fairly close but the Suns blew away the Spurs frontcourt.

LMAO! Ok and?

Comment on-topic. Why was that necessary at all? Yes the Spurs beat the Pistons in game 7 to win the NBA title three years ago. Your point?

Why would you get that mad over a little discussion on a message board?

Olajuwon 48 13-26 5-7 1 5 6 7 5 2 3 4 31
O’Neal 44 10-16 6-9 3 13 16 9 5 0 7 3 26

Olajuwon 42 14-30 6-9 3 8 11 2 5 1 3 4 34
O’Neal 45 12-22 9-14 3 9 12 7 5 9 4 0 33

Olajuwon 45 14-30 3-5 4 10 14 7 4 2 1 0 31
O’Neal 45 11-17 6-11 2 8 10 6 3 1 4 3 28

Olajuwon 44 15-30 4-5 3 12 15 6 4 3 4 0 35
O’Neal 46 11-19 3-8 3 9 12 3 5 0 6 4 25

You know, everyone always says Dream outplayed and dominated Shaq in the 95 finals... but statistically, I would say it was a push...

Doesn't mean Olajuwon didn't outplay Shaq...

So to...

Shaq does not own TD. However, Shaq owned him last night. Tim betta step up his game in the playofffs. If old lard ass Shaq can do it. TD should be able to do it to.
